Genus Masenia Chatterji, 1933 (Trematoda: Maseniidae Yamaguti, 1954) is one of the most important digenean trematode parasite with wide geographic distribution in the world. The purpose of the present study was to describe morphological and morphometrical characteristics of digenetic trematodes. The present study was carried out in fresh water fish fauna of River Gomti, Daliganj at Lucknow (26o 51' 30" N, 80o 56' 14" E). We have found that fresh water fishes heavily infected with various helminthes parasites. We have recovered large number of digenean parasites which belong to genus viz. Masenia Chatterji, 1933. During the survey (2012, Daliganj Lucknow) of fresh water digenetic trematode parasites, collected three different species of the genus Masenia, out of these one is new species, another are redescribed to show certain variation, the new parasite was obtain from the intestine of fish Mystus vittatus (Bloch, 1794) (Actinopterygii: Bagridae).

The present investigation deals with the prevalence of infection of cestode, Pseudoinverta oraiensis19 parasitizing Clarias batrachus from Bundelkhand Region (U.P.) India. The studies were recorded from different sampling stations of Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. For this study 360 fresh water fish, Clarias batrachus were examined. The incidence of infection, monsoon season (17.50%) followed by winter season (20.00%) whereas high in summer season (30.00%).

Abstract The study was conducted during September 2018-August 2019 to study the digenetic trematode infection in fresh water fishes of some of the water bodies viz. Gho-manhasan, Chakrali and Chadwal of Jammu region of J&K union territory A total of 220 fishes comprising Ophiocephalus punctatus and Xenentodon cancila belonging to families Channidae and Belonidae respectively were examined. A total of 4 digenetic trematode parasites belonging to 4 different families i.e., Euclinostomum heterostomum (Clinostomidae Luhe, 1901); Phyllodistomum tripathi (Gorgoderidae Looss, 1901); Genarchopsis piscicola (Hemiuridae, Luhe, 1901), and Bucephalopsis karvei (Bucephalidae Poche, 1907) were detected. The overall prevalence of digenetic trematode infection was 65.90% and the mean intensity was 3.58. Among these Genarchopsis piscicola showed the highest prevalence (40.38%) with mean intensity 2.95 in the host fish Xenentodon cancila, while in other species the prevalence ranged between 26.23% and 34.62%. Present study authenticates the presence of several species of digenetic trematode parasites in the fishes inhabiting freshwater of J&K union territory.

The fresh-water fish Wallago attu (Bloch. And Schn.) was collected from local fish market of district Balrampur (U.P.) and examined 15 specimens, of which only one specimen was found infected with 17 specimens of said species. The site of infection being the gill filaments of the host. The present form differs from S. devraji, S. malabaricus and S.parvulus in having accessory pieces on dorsal anchors and presence of wings on dorsal anchors. Moreover, it differs from S. indicus, S octolytus, S. aori and S. sudhakari in having cephalic glands and different shape of copulatory complex and vagina. On subsequent study, the present form appear to be a new species of the genus Silurodescoides Gussev, 1974 and described as a new species and named Silurodescoides srivastavai n. sp. in the honor of Dr. C.B. Srivastava, Ex. Dy. Director, Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata.

A check-list of 139 species of fishes of both exotic and indigenous origin belonging to 34 families and 87 genera available in the rivers, beels, haors, ponds and swamps of the greater Mymensingh (Mymensingh, Kishoregonj, Netrakona, Jamalpur and Sherpur) districts of Bangladesh is presented. AbstractDigenetic trematodes have complex life cycles involving multiple hosts and free-living larval stages. Some species have 2 lar-val stages that infect snails, with miracidia and cercariae using these molluscs as first and second intermediate hosts, respec-tively.
