An autopsy or necropsy can be performed only once; therefore, its proper execution is of fundamental importance in explaining the cause of death. The protocol with photographic documentation is an integral part of the autopsy, but sometimes it does not fully reflect the state of the body and the pathological changes observed at each stage of the procedure. These shortcomings are addressed by modern imaging techniques, which are increasingly used during the autopsy of human bodies, but quite rarely during necropsy of animals. Non-invasive techniques (CT, MRI, or photogrammetry with laser body scanning), or in some cases also minimally invasive techniques (biopsy), enable comprehensive analysis of the carcass, but Virtopsy is only a supplement to the classical autopsy, especially in veterinary forensic medicine..

Abstract The design of an intracorpeal suturing device that will assist surgeons in placing an internal suture through a small incision. Performing surgical procedures through a small incision greatly reduces patient trauma and rehabilitation time, both of which are proportionally related to medical costs. Medical devices exists today that allow surgeons to perform procedures through small incisions, unfortunately, it is difficult to place sutures deep in the body using minimally invasive techniques. A device that enables surgeons to place sutures minimally invasively will facilitate surgeons by increasing the scope of procedures that can be preformed using this technique.

Non-invasive aesthetic procedures are growing in the natonal scene. Minimally invasive techniques performed in a short time, in a clinic environment, and with a more comfortable postoperative are alternatives very well-accepted by patients who need to improve some face features. One of the most sought procedures in orofacial harmonizaton is rhinomodeling. The professional who works associating effective techniques of this specialty manages to restructure face regions what a short time ago was only possible with more invasive surgeries.

Purpose The present study aims to summarize different non-invasive techniques for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in diabetic patients using glucose-oxidase biosensors. In diabetic patients, the self-monitoring of blood glucose (BG) levels through minimally invasive techniques provides a quick method of measuring their BG concentration, unlike conventional laboratory measurements. The drawbacks of minimally invasive techniques include physical pain, anxiety and reduced patient compliance. To overcome these limitations, researchers shifted their attention towards the development of a pain-free and non-invasive glucose monitoring system, which showed encouraging results. Design/methodology/approach This study reviews the development of minimally and non-invasive method for continuous glucose level monitoring in diabetic or hyperglycemic patients. Specifically, glucose monitoring using non-invasive techniques, such as spectroscopy-based methods, polarimetry, fluorescence, electromagnetic variations, transdermal extraction-based methods and using body fluids, has been discussed. The various strategies adopted for improving the overall specificity and performance of biosensors are discussed. Findings In conclusion, the technology of glucose oxidase-based biosensors for glucose level monitoring is becoming a strong competitor, probably because of high specificity and selectivity, low cost and increased patient compliance. Many industries currently working in this field include Google, Novartis and Microsoft, which demonstrates the significance and strong market potential of self-monitored glucose-oxidase-based biosensors in the near future. Originality/value This review paper summarizes comprehensive strategies for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in diabetic patients using non-invasive glucose-oxidase biosensors. Non-invasive techniques received significant research interest because of high sensitivity and better patient compliance, unlike invasive ones. Although the results from these innovative devices require frequent calibration against direct BG data, they might be a preferable candidate for future CGM. However, the challenges associated with designing accurate level sensors to biomonitor BG data easily and painlessly needs to be addressed.

Gummy smile is a characteristic in which the patient exposes more than 2 mm of keratinized gingiva in forced smile. With a multifactorial cause, its correct planning depends directly on the correct diagnosis. Usually, the procedures that involve manipulation and the enlargement of the aesthetical crown lengthening are surgical. The objective of this case series was to show the advantages of surgical crown augmentation surgery in aesthetic areas with minimally invasive techniques. Three cases of gummy smile were presented, with different treatment plans and techniques for execution. In the 3 cases, bone removal was performed with piezoelectric ultrasound, which made the postoperative more comfortable for patients. These cases illustrate the use of technology to reduce morbidity in patients who need to undergo bone removal to treat gingival smile.

Surgery and chemotherapy have historically been the mainstay of treatment in patients with metastatic disease. However there are many alternative therapies available to relieve the symptoms and morbidity of metastases. In this paper, we review the role and highlight the advantages of minimally invasive techniques employed in patients with pulmonary and bone metastases.
