The outcome of having a manuscript published in reputable international journals leads students to various challenges. The supervisor has an essential role in succeeding students to achieve this goal. This study aims to determine the position of the supervisor in guiding students to have a publication in reputable international journals by a research group activity. This study focuses on retrieving data from three non-native speakers (NNS) supervisors who guide graduate students majoring in chemistry who have manuscripts published in reputable international journals. Data obtained by interview method. This research uses the qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. Based on the data collected, the mentor has a crucial role in succeeding the students to have reputable international manuscript publications. Interventions conducted by supervisor varied from the selection of a title to the choice of journal publisher.

AbstractDrawing from a social constructionist perspective to written scholarly communication, this paper argues that training in academic writing for students in higher education especially in second language contexts should go beyond emphasis on grammatical correctness and paragraphing strategies, and also focus on the rhetorical character of academic discourse together with the mastery of its communicative protocols. Using the University of Ghana as a reference point, the paper reviews a selection of Ghanaian graduate students’ awareness of the protocols that govern academic discourses in scholarly writing, and in consideration of their unique educational and socio-cultural circumstances, the paper proposes strategies, from the pedagogical and institutional standpoints, aimed at increasing students’ awareness of the relevant communicative practices that engender credibility and accountability.

The paper presents the research study of academic writing of Czech university students in an English Language Teacher Education study program. The authors apply an interdisciplinary approach integrating the perspectives of linguistics and language pedagogy in the evaluation of the design of the Academic Writing course and its impact on the development of students’ academic writing skills. Adopting a process genre approach (Badger, White, 2000) to writing instruction as a key design principle, our study combines the genre analysis framework (Swales, 1990) and the intercultural rhetoric perspective (Connor, 2004) to design an innovated academic writing course for graduate students focusing on developing critical thinking skills and context-aware writing. The course, informed by an analysis of the academic writing needs of the students, aimed at familiarizing them with the rhetorical structure of academic texts with a focus on the genre of the Master’s thesis and at introducing them to the academic writing conventions in the area of soft sciences. Piloted in 2019, the course was implemented as a blended course, where the contact sessions were complemented by online support in VLE Moodle. Apart from analyses of written texts, classroom writing, and homework tasks, it also included discourse editing tasks and peerreviewing with peer-reviewer feedback and teacher feedback. We believe that our research findings will shed light on the potential of academic writing courses based on the process-genre approach to contribute to the enhancement of the quality of English academic texts by non-native academic writers, and specifically Czech graduate students.

As globalization and rapid development of science and technology has brought huge impact on today’s world, it is important for non-English speaking countries such as Taiwan, Republic of China, to actively participate in the international community through communication in the international language, English. In higher education, dissemination of research achievements through publication of international journals has been a common degree requirement, the practice in public researchoriented universities being the noticeable example. However, graduate students who have such needs are often unprepared to demonstrate acceptable academic writing abilities in English. To facilitate effective access to research information and to promote national academic excellence through international publications, it is essential to promote writing instruction of English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Meanwhile, Web-based environments provide a viable choice of delivery of EAP courses and the computer-mediated communication tools help formation of the student body as virtual organizations as they learn with one another.

Readers theater productions are meaningful expressions of creative pedagogy in higher education. This article presents the script of a readers theater called Identify This… A Readers Theater of Women's Voices, which was researched, written, and produced by undergraduate and graduate students in a women's studies class called Intersections of Race, Class, and Gender. Section one of the article reproduces the script of Identify This that was based on life history interviews with a diverse selection of women to illustrate intersectional identities. Section two briefly describes the essential elements of the process we used to create and perform Identify This.

The problem of organizing expert activities in the field of forensic art examination of fine arts at a practical level is considered. The conditions of objectivity (reliability) of the results of a forensic art examination of fine art in law enforcement practiceare identified. In this regard, the problem of the reliability of the examination results is considered at the interdisciplinary level: substantive law – criminal and customs; criminal procedure law, as well as forensic science and expert activities. The necessity of creating, within the framework of the anti-corruption policy of the state, an independent institute of forensic art criticism of fine arts is substantiated. It is proposed: 1) to create an information base under the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation on the data of art historians known in different fields of fine art who can act as competent persons in legal proceedings; 2) to create a mechanism for the appointment of a commission of forensic-forensic art examination of objects of fine art examination on the basis of automatic random selection of subjects of examination. It is proved that this measure excludes the possibility of giving an unreliable conclusion as part of a forensic art examination of objects of fine art.
