An airborne infrared laser leak detection technology is proposed to detect natural gas pipeline leakage by helicopter which carrying a detector that can detect a high spatial resolution of trace of methane on the ground. The principle of the airborne infrared laser leak detection system is based on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy. The system consists of an optical unit including the laser, camera, helicopter mount, electronic unit with GPS receiver, a notebook computer and a pilot monitor. And the system is mounted on a helicopter. The principle and the architecture of the airborne infrared laser leak detection system are presented. Field test experiments are carried out on West-East Natural Gas Pipeline of China, and the results show that the airborne laser leak detection method is suitable for detecting gas leak of pipeline on plain, desert and hills but unfit for the area with large altitude diversification.

ABSTRACT Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) leak detection system is a precautionary measure for hazards such as a gas cylinder explosion. There have been many incidents of building explosions because the occupants were negligent in anticipating the gas leak. Therefore, this research has made a gas leak detection system that is integrated with the IoT concept using Google Firebase. This tool aims to anticipate the dangers of gas leaks that occur in a room in a building or house. This tool is wrapped in an acrylic box measuring 10 x 11 x 8 cm. By using NodeMCU ESP8266 as the main control, the gas sensor uses MQ - 2 as input, LED, LCD, and buzzer as output. This tool is also equipped with IoT (Internet of Things) so that the room where this tool is installed when a gas leak occurs can provide notifications remotely using an application on a smartphone. From this tool, test results have been obtained for the ideal distance from the gas regulator to the sensor which is 1 cm away by producing a sensor response time of 0.90 seconds and also getting the response time of the tool in sending notifications to the smartphone application of 1.79 seconds. Keywords: LPG, Firebase, IoT, NodeMCU, Gas Detection

ABSTRACT

Smart home technology today has been widely developed, including the home automation and security systems. In the home automation system developed is a system of lights, fans, and faucet water ablution automatically. This home automation system was developed for the purpose of supporting electricity and water conservation programs. Then in the home security system developed among them is a gas leak detection system and also fire. Gas leak detection systems are developed with the aim of preventing gas leakage from continuing so as to minimize explosion. Then in the fire detection system was built with the aim to prevent the occurrence of widespread fire that is equipped with fire extinguishers. Smart home technology developed, both in home automation systems and security will be controlled centrally by the microcontroller. The purpose of this development is for the house to be an efficient house with electricity savings as well as water savings, and can be a safe and comfortable place to live.
Keywords: smart home, automatic lighting, automatic fan, automatic water tap, gas leak detection, fire detection
