The nuclear accident at the Chernobyl NPP caused radioactive contamination of large areas of agricultural lands in the Republic of Belarus; 265 thousand hectares of the lands were withdrawn from agricultural turnover. Later 75% of these lands were transferred to forestry enterprises and environmental protection organizations. According to ecological and economic assessments of the feasibility of returning the retiring land in the Mogilev region to full economic activity based on the outcomes of comprehensive inventory of 2014-2016 only 23% of the land areas could be re-stored. At the same time, due to the irreversible radioactive decay it is possible to assess future positive changes in radiological situation and the possibility of recovering of the land, previously recognized as radioactively dangerous, and returning into the agricultural use. The issues con-sidered in the article aim at the assessment of the future changes in the levels of radiation con-tamination of local areas and shows the prospects for their further arable and meadow use.

Abstract Ukrainian uranium ore mining and milling facilities are located in the tight populated areas on the valuable agricultural lands of Ukraine. The almost 50th years’ activity of these enterprises has caused the radioactive contamination of the environment. The most dangerous facilities happened to be those ones which contaminate the entrails for a long time, namely: tailings which were discharged with the uranium ore uranium mill and former uranium in-situ leaching sites which are now decommissioned and left without relevant environmental protection measures. This paper considers two uranium facilities, which impact in a similar way on such an environmental entity as underground water: the tailings and in-situ leaching site located in Dnipropetrovsk region.

One of the measures to eliminate the consequences of the Chernobyl accident was the exclusion of highly contaminated land from agricultural use. Due to the positive dynamics of the radiation situation, the issue of land return becomes relevant. However, in the period of exclusion of these lands the land clearance degradation processes were developing. The second part of the article is devoted to the issue of economic evaluation of the expediency of land return and the mutual coordination of the results of separate stages of complex ecological and economic evaluation. The research was carried out in Mogilev branch Institute of radiology (Republic of Belarus).

One of the measures to eliminate the consequences of the Chernobyl accident was the exclusion of highly contaminated land from agricultural use. During the natural decay of radionuclides there is a decrease in the activity of 137Cs and 90Sr in the soil. The issue of land return becomes relevant. The article describes the main stages of formation of the system of criteria and indicators of ecological and economic evaluation of the expediency of land return. The first part of the article is devoted to the issue of radiological evalation.

During the presidency of Manuel Estrada Cabrera (1898-1920), the exploitative and exclusive nature of Guatemalan society became increasingly obvious. Instead of real development, what emerged was a landed oligarchy, engaged primarily in the production of coffee, who utilized their economic might to construct a state that protected their dominant social and political status. Although economic growth and modernization proceeded at a moderate pace in the first two decades of this century, political and social problems associated with increased economic activity and the altered fabric of Guatemalan society arose. Significant among these were the rapid growth of the capital's middle sectors, the emergence of incipient labor organizations, and a vocal and politically conscious student population; all of which were refused a forum for political expression, not to mention an equitable share in the profits of the republic's lucrative coffee industry. The cumulative effect of these forces, augmented by the extremely repressive nature of Estrada Cabrera's Administration, presented the republic with a rare opportunity to implement real and significant reform.

Public concern about the environmental impact of economic activities has significantly increased around the globe in recent years. Within the scope of unlawful acts, environmental delicts are among the most serious ones in terms of environmental impact, the consequences of which directly affect the quality and development of agriculture as the main branch of economic activity. The issue of environmental protection and liability can be approached from different perspectives, and the focus of the present research will be on the analysis of environmental delicts committed by legal entities, taking into consideration the importance and role of these entities in agriculture. In addition to general assumptions on legal regulation of the liability of legal entities, the authors also presented the results of research on legal entities reported, charged, and convicted for environmental delicts in the Republic of Serbia in the period from 2010 to 2017, with a special emphasis on the analysis of results obtained in the abovementioned research areas for the territory of AP Vojvodina.
