Little is known about how a firm decides what type of relationship to develop with a LSP and how the type of arrangement affects the service quality performance. This article proposes a conceptual framework to better understand how shippers decide what type of relationship to develop with a logistics service provider (LSP) within the strategy- structure-performance theoretical framework. A systematic literature review is used to develop a conceptual framework that considers the association between the firm’s strategic perspective on outsourcing and the resulting effect on the alliance structure. The concept of a logistics alliance orientation (LAO) is introduced to examine how the level of the LAO affects the alliance structure. Lastly, the link between the logistics alliance structure (LAS) and service quality performance is explored.

There are a rapidly growing number of scientific studies analyzing the role of university and higher educational institutions in regional economic development. In this study, the author reviews the rapidly growing body of research streaming out of the geography of innovation and knowledge with particular attention to the period from 1994 to 2019. The author discusses several seminal contributions on the role of universities in regional economic development and then applies a systematic literature review to the extant research of 193 articles. This literature review offers a conceptual framework by identifying four key topics found in the literature: organizational capacity, intermediaries, knowledge dynamics, and policy.

PurposeThis study aims to investigate the logistics service quality (LSQ) from a supply chain quality perspective. The purpose is twofold: (1) to investigate how business customers perceive the LSQ dimensions in business-to-business (B2B) relationships, with a particular focus on the role of logistics service providers and (2) to analyse the manner in which such dimensions, when combined, lead to high levels of customer satisfaction.Design/methodology/approachData collected through a survey of a sample of Italian food companies are analysed using a qualitative comparative analysis approach. The analysis explores ways of achieving customer satisfaction through different combinations of LSQ dimensions and not only via a “single recipe,” as in most symmetrical methods.FindingsThe study describes how seven dimensions of LSQ lead to achieve customer satisfaction, particularly highlighting and discussing how the different LSQ constructs lead to gain high customer satisfaction via different configurations. This approach is unique in identifying not only linear relationships among variables as traditional statistical methods do, via a configurational approach.Research limitations/implicationsMost academic studies in the related literature investigate service quality from a quality management and a supply chain management perspective. This study fills the existing gap in the analysis of B2B relationships, focusing on the role of third-party logistics (3PL) service providers.Practical implicationsThe study presents useful implications for practitioners, describing several ways in which 3PL service providers can combine LSQ dimensions to perform a continuous improvement of customer experience and to gain higher levels of customer satisfaction.Originality/valueThis study fills the existing gap in the analysis of B2B relationships, using the lens of quality management and supply chain management perspectives, and focusing on the role of 3PL service providers.

Most of the existing research relating to online shopping are focused on the analysis of customers' purchase intention and loyalty, but lack influencing factors on the quality performance of online shopping food. This article introduces the relationship quality, and constructs a model of relationship quality, logistics service quality, information sharing, supplier quality management and quality performance. This is done through an empirical study, taking 145 online food businesses as an example. At the same time, the relationship quality not only has an effect on the quality performance through information sharing, logistics service quality and supplier quality management, but also has an indirect effect on quality performance through information sharing and logistics service quality or information sharing and supplier quality management.

The present research paper is an attempt to understand the role of mediating variables in the relationship of cause related marketing and customer Value. Based on the literature review, the role of service quality and perceived risk as mediators has been analysed in depth. The data for the study has been collected from mobile subscribers of the select telecom companies that were running cause campaigns. The results of the research showed higher total effect than direct effect, which signalled the role of mediators in the relationship of cause related marketing and customer value. Furthermore it is evident from the analysis that service quality has a direct and significant impact on the relationship of Cause related marketing and customer value, as compared to the perceived risk. This research study emphasizes the role of Cause Related Marketing in enhancing customer value via service quality.

In recent years, the applications of Lean Manufacturing (LM) in different types of industries are growing rapidly. Some of the organizations have reported huge benefits, while many industries have not obtained the desired results. One of the reasons for this can be attributed to improper understanding of LM by both the management and employees of an organization. Researchers worldwide have attempted to solve this issue by proposing various frameworks. A literature review on frameworks of LM revealed around 30 frameworks. A comparative analysis carried out on these frameworks has shown that these frameworks suffer from various shortcomings. Hence in this paper, an attempt has been made to propose a new conceptual framework for LM, which will resolve some of these limitations. The proposed framework utilizes 65 LM elements, which are categorized according to the decision levels and the role of internal stakeholders in an organization. According to the authors' knowledge, there is no LM framework in the literature, which is as comprehensive as the proposed one and which provides a complete integration of these elements into a coherent whole. However, the proposed framework is conceptual and needs to be validated.

Introduction:Although the concept of empowerment seems useful for good care and support for people living with dementia, there is a lack of understanding as to how to define this concept. Therefore, insight is needed in what empowerment means for people living with dementia. Methods:We performed an integrative literature review (PubMed, CINAHL, PsychINFO), including articles that addressed empowerment for people living with dementia in their title or abstract. Using qualitative data analysis software ATLAS.ti, we applied open codes to describe all relevant aspects of included articles. Common themes and categories were identified using inductive reasoning and constant comparison.Results:Sixty-nine articles were included. We identified four themes: (1) description of the state of being empowered, (2) the process of empowerment, (3) contribution of the environment to the empowerment process, and (4) effects on other variables. We combined these results with the conceptual framework of our previous qualitative study on the definition of empowerment for people living with dementia based on stakeholders’ perspectives into a revised conceptual framework. Subsequently, the combined information of both studies was visualized in a revised conceptual framework. Conclusion:This literature review provides more details as to the role of the environment for empowerment of people living with dementia and suggests that empowerment can be considered a dynamic process, taking place through interaction between the person living with dementia and their environment. Our revised conceptual framework of empowerment can serve as a basis for future studies on empowerment for people living with dementia, and to support (in)formal caregivers in the empowerment process.
