It is well-known that shift of some points leads to abnormal errors in active geodesy sets which stressed out the importance of research of questions on reliability of measurements results. The aim of the article is forming of basic relations of optimum regimes of RTK cadastre measurements using the suggested criterion of optimality that is requirement to achieve in measurement set the minimum rest informativeness. Solution of this task make it possible to get the transcendental equation allowing to calculate such value of temporal parameters which provides the maximum of residual entropy. Such regime is stated as worse and not recommended for practice. The second research task in the present article is optimization of set of averaged results of measurements. On the basis of results of held measurements it was concluded that the operation of averaging carried out in RTK GPS sets of cadastre measurements while is carried out in low interval of variation of averaging time increasing the accuracy of measurements results doesn’t lead to significant increase of informativeness of such systems and can not be submitted as an effective technical solution for increasing of informativeness.

Abstract Ultrasonic anemometers are widely used to investigate turbulence in the surface layer. Some of their advantages are high-frequency sampling, the ability to work for long periods without a resident operator (even in adverse meteorological conditions), and their calibration related only to design parameters. In this paper an analysis of the random uncertainty associated with ultrasonic anemometer measurements is reported. The analysis is based on a statistical procedure that compares the simultaneous data taken with two identical anemometers operating in nominally identical conditions. Postprocessing of data has been carried out in different reference systems in order to evaluate how the random uncertainties change according to the postprocessing procedure used. Results show that uncertainty on wind velocity decreases with averaging time, and it can be as low as 1 cm s−1 for a typical averaging time of 30 min. The random uncertainty on average vertical wind velocity 〈w〉 could also be as low as 1 cm s−1, and it is very sensitive to the effects of vertical misalignment. The analysis is based on six different measurement sets in which the anemometers have been deployed on a single mast or in two separate masts with and without additional detectors placed near the anemometers themselves. Results indicate that the uncertainty of all the measured parameters increases when the anemometer is used in configurations in which they are placed on separate masts. Several parameters also show an additional increase of uncertainty if other detectors are placed nearby. The relative random uncertainty on momentum and sensible heat fluxes, for typical averaging time, can be as low as 6%–7% and it could increase to a factor of 2–3 when they are placed on separate masts. Only small effects due to the influence of flow distortions caused by the presence of additional sensors have been found on fluxes and are mainly related to sensible heat flux.

In this research, Digital level (DL), Total station (TS) and GPS were used to assess accuracy and precision of the height component. Field observations were implemented in two tested areas. A reference network which consisted of 34 points on area1 and 10 control points on area2 which had been observed five times using Digital level, RTK-GPS and Total station (TS) where Digital level was considered as a base for comparison. Several known control points were used as check points to evaluate the accuracy of measurements. According to the obtained results, TS and GPS-RTK measurements were compared with the adjusted reference points measured by precise Digital level (DNA 03). Around ±15 mm standard deviation for TS and ±13.5 mm for GPS were achieved. Linear accuracy of TS, GPS, and orthophotos measurements from Vossing German Company were also investigated in regular features within the same tested areas. The actual lengths were measured with steel tape up to a millimeter accuracy and were considered as being a base for comparing. The maximum deviation 22mm accuracy has been obtained in area2 and 12 mm in area1. The study shows that the extracted features from orthophotos had less accuracy in hilly regions due to relief displacement whereas they were more accurate in gentle slopes.

AbstractPrecise measurements of heliographic position of solar filaments were used for determination of the proper motion of solar filaments on the time-scale of days. The filaments have a tendency to make a shaking or waving of the external structure and to make a general movement of whole filament body, coinciding with the transport of the magnetic flux in the photosphere. The velocity scatter of individual measured points is about one order higher than the accuracy of measurements.

Convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) is widely used as a microanalysis tool. By the relative position of HOLZ-lines (Higher Order Laue Zone) in CBED-patterns one can determine the unit cell parameters with a high accuracy up to 0.1%. For this purpose, maps of HOLZ-lines are simulated with the help of a computer so that the best matching of maps with experimental CBED-pattern should be reached. In maps, HOLZ-lines are approximated, as a rule, by straight lines. The actual HOLZ-lines, however, are different from the straights. If we decrease accelerating voltage, the difference is increased and, thus, the accuracy of the unit cell parameters determination by the method becomes lower. To improve the accuracy of measurements it is necessary to give up the HOLZ-lines substitution by the straights. According to the kinematical theory a HOLZ-line is merely a fragment of ellipse arc described by the parametric equationwith arc corresponding to change of β parameter from -90° to +90°, wherevector, h - the distance between Laue zones, g - the value of the reciprocal lattice vector, g‖ - the value of the reciprocal lattice vector projection on zero Laue zone.

Purpose Low residual noise (RN) levels are critically important when obtaining electrophysiological recordings of threshold auditory brainstem responses. In this study, we examine the effectiveness and efficiency of Kalman-weighted averaging (KWA) implemented on the Vivosonic Integrity System and artifact rejection (AR) implemented on the Intelligent Hearing Systems SmartEP system for obtaining low RN levels. Method Sixteen adults participated. Electrophysiological measures were obtained using simultaneous recordings by the Vivosonic and Intelligent Hearing Systems for subjects in 2 relaxed conditions and 4 active motor conditions. Three averaging times were used for the relaxed states (1, 1.5, and 3 min) and for the active states (1.5, 3, and 6 min). Repeated-measures analyses of variance were used to examine RN levels as a function of noise reduction strategy (i.e., KWA, AR) and averaging time. Results Lower RN levels were obtained using KWA than AR in both the relaxed and active motor states. Thus, KWA was more effective than was AR under the conditions examined in this study. Using KWA, approximately 3 min of averaging was needed in the relaxed condition to obtain an average RN level of 0.025 μV. In contrast, in the active motor conditions, approximately 6 min of averaging was required using KWA. Mean RN levels of 0.025 μV were not attained using AR. Conclusions When patients are not physiologically quiet, low RN levels are more likely to be obtained and more efficiently obtained using KWA than AR. However, even when using KWA, in active motor states, 6 min of averaging or more may be required to obtain threshold responses. Averaging time needed and whether a low RN level can be attained will depend on the level of motor activity exhibited by the patient.

Abstract: Recently, Duriez, Fontaine and Hutsebaut (2000) and Fontaine, Duriez, Luyten and Hutsebaut (2003) constructed the Post-Critical Belief Scale in order to measure the two religiosity dimensions along which Wulff (1991 , 1997 ) summarized the various possible approaches to religion: Exclusion vs. Inclusion of Transcendence and Literal vs. Symbolic. In the present article, the German version of this scale is presented. Results obtained in a heterogeneous German sample (N = 216) suggest that the internal structure of the German version fits the internal structure of the original Dutch version. Moreover, the observed relation between the Literal vs. Symbolic dimension and racism, which was in line with previous studies ( Duriez, in press ), supports the external validity of the German version.

At steel production based on scrap metal utilization, the scrap heating before charging into a melting facility is an important way of energy efficiency increase and ecological parameters improving. In winter time scrap metal charging with ice inclusions into a metal melt can result in a considerable damage of equipment and even accidents. Therefore, scrap preliminary drying is necessary to provide industrial safety. It was shown, that in countries with warm and low-snow climate with no risk of scrap metal icing up during its transportation and storing in the open air, the basic task being solved at the scrap drying is an increase of energy efficiency of steelmaking. InRussiathe scrap metal drying first of all provides the safety of the process and next - energy saving. Existing technologies of scrap metal drying and heating considered, as well as advantages and drawbacks of technical solutions used at Russian steel plants. In winter time during scrap metal heating at conveyers (Consteel process) hot gases penetrate not effectively into its mass, the heat is not enough for evaporation of wetness in the metal charge. At scrap heating by the furnace gases, a problem of dioxines emissions elimination arises. Application of shaft heaters results in high efficiency of scrap heating. However, under conditions of Russian winter the upper scrap layers are not always heated higher 0 °С and after getting into a furnace bath the upper scrap layers cause periodical vapor explosions. The shaft heaters create optimal conditions for dioxines formation, which emit into atmosphere. It was shown, that accounting Russian economic and nature conditions, the metal charge drying and heating in modified charging buckets by the heat of burnt natural gas or other additional fuel is optimal. The proposed technical solution enables to burnt off organic impurities ecologically safely, to melt down ice, to evaporate the wetness in the scrap as well as to heat the charge as enough as the charging logistics enables it. The method was implemented at several Russian steel plants. Technical and economical indices of scrap metal drying in buckets under conditions of EAF-based shop, containing two furnaces ДСП-100, presented.
