We investigate homogeneous geodesics in a class of homogeneous spaces G/K' called generalized C-spaces. We give necessary conditions so that a G-invariant metric on G/K' is a g.o. metric.

AbstractWe study the geodesic orbit property for nilpotent Lie groups N endowed with a pseudo-Riemannian left-invariant metric. We consider this property with respect to different groups acting by isometries. When N acts on itself by left-translations we show that it is a geodesic orbit space if and only if the metric is bi-invariant. Assuming N is 2-step nilpotent and with non-degenerate center we give algebraic conditions on the Lie algebra n of N which imply that every geodesic is the orbit of a one-parameter subgroup of N.Auto(N). In addition we present an example of an almost g.o. space such that for null homogeneous geodesics, the natural parameter of the orbit is not always the affine parameter of the geodesic.

Spontaneous compactification of Einstein–Cartan theory with quadratic Gauß–Bonnet term is investigated. For the homogeneous spaces SU (3)/ U (1) × U (1), Sp (2)/ SU (2) × U (1) and G2/ SU (3) we find the most general form of G-invariant metric and torsion and find solutions of spontaneous compactifying type. It turns out that these solutions admit a geometrical interpretation.

AbstractThis study focuses on the process of the gradual shaping of Czech national awareness in Moravia from the beginning of the nineteenth century onwards when the necessary conditions for the development of improved mutual relations between the Czech (Slavic) population in the two Lands of the Czech Crown -Bohemia and Moravia - were slowly being formed. Moravia faced a number of handicaps to the development of a national revival in comparison with Bohemia, the most significant of which was the relatively high degree of Germanisation of the land. A change to the image of Moravia came in the revolutionary years 1848/1849, when Czech national awareness spread to broader sections of society in Moravia. The view of Bohemia held by the Moravians underwent significant change and a period of increasingly intensive political and cultural contact between the two lands arose.
