The In-Mold Roller is a revolutionary printing process by which objects are 3D decorated. The products decorated by In-Mold Roller are protected from water and fading. These kinds of decorations strongly increase the beauty, desirability and value of the objects. The In-Mold Roller is now using either of gravure printing and screen printing to print PET film. However, there are some problems with these two techniques. This research is to investigate the potential use of combining In-Mold Roller with digital inkjet printing in 3D decoration, e.g. in personalized printing services. The study results found show that digital inkjet printing to the PET film and then transfer to the ABS, the solid ink densities (SIDs) of primaries would increase. The tone values increases (TVIs) from highlight and middle (around 0~60%) were generally higher than those in shadows. The shapes and sizes of color gamut were also varied according to different kinds of digital UV inkjet printing processes. Moreover, after transferred, the color gamut became smaller.

The aim of this study is to compare laserjet printing and inkjet printing properties on recycled papers. In the study, we recycled reference papers prepared in accordance with the INGEDE 11p standard. After recycling the papers, we produced test papers in the laboratory environment and examined the physical and optical properties of the obtained papers. We applied calendering process at 100 oC temperature and 20 bar pressure on the obtained test papers. After this process, we printed trigromy color measurement scales with inkjet and laserjet printers on the test papers obtaine Finally, using the spectrophotometer, we determined the printing properties of both print types. When we examined the results, we determined that in most of the printability parameters, laserjet had a superior performance and was a more usable printing system. For example, while the inkjet cyan density value is 0.94, the laserjet is 1.05. While M + Y trapping value was 28.23 in inkjet, it was 92.20 in laserjet. For example, we found the Gloss value as 2.53 in inkjet and 4.23 in laserjet. While inkjet cyan print chroma value is 44.03, it is 48.09 in laserjet. In addition, we determined that laserjet printing reached a wider area as a color gamut. Based on the color measurement results of both printing types, we have determined that the printability of recycled papers is reasonable. We have determined with experimental results that laserjet printing produces better quality prints in a short time, especially in the office environment.

IMR can print out excellent textures and effects on irregular surfaces. Many products decorated by IMR are protected from water and fading, and these kinds of decorations strongly increase beauty, desirability and value of the objects. Therefore, this research is to investigate the potential use of combining IMR with UV inkjet printing and to compare color variance of IMR between PET coated and uncoated white ink. Study results show that the SIDs of PET with white ink is higher about 0.15 to 0.2 than the PET without white ink. The SIDs of PET without white ink will decrease and the SIDs of the PET with white ink will increase when transferred. The PC of PET without white ink is about 10 to 15 higher than the PET with white ink. After transferred, the Color Gamut became smaller than before. Especially for the PET without white ink, its color differences △E can reach 40. In addition, the color gamut became smaller when transferred.

This paper is to study factors that affect soaping color fastness of inkjet printing ink. Considering ink as a constant, discuss the affect of curing conditions on soaping fastness by altering curing temperature and curing time. Considering curing condition as a constant, study the affect of other factors on soaping fastness of ink, like particle size, the binder content and varieties of binder. The results show that: the soaping fastness is better when the curing temperature is 180°Cand curing time is 3minites; The smaller the particle size of ink is, the higher the soaping fastness is; the soaping fastness is well when the binder content of ink accounts for 20% of the total. The water-based polyacrylate and water-based polyurethane have the same effects on soaping fastness.

UV Inkjet Printing has demonstrated extraordinary potential in printing technology around the globe in recent years. Other than its environment-friendly trait, UV Inkjet Printing can also be applied to various printing materials due to its wide range of application. Comparing to the low-price competition invoked by paper-based printing, it achieves high added-value results from its output. While international market’s perspective on inkjet printing remains positive, most printing press in Taiwan still have doubts for the technology. In recent years, there has been a considerable growth in importing UV Width Inkjet printers in Taiwan domestically. However, working personnel in Taiwan are inexperienced in dealing with new equipment and wider selection of printing materials, therefore the issue of printers adapting to their diverse printing materials. This study will examine the five combinations of UV printer and printing materials that are common in Taiwan (brands of printers, serial number of the sprinkler head, and brands of printing ink) and three specific high-value printing substrates (glass, acrylic and melamine plywood). Through the printing experiment, the color gamut of printing materials will be re-examined. The goal of the study is to establish a standard for UV printing’s application in decoration materials, so as to provide reference for future development.

This paper is to determine the effects of various factors on the color fastness to crocking of inkjet printing ink. Firstly, the affects of curing conditions on color fastness to crocking were discussed by altering curing temperature and curing time separately. Secondly, considering curing conditions as a constant, study the affects of the pH of ink, the amount of adhesives and the varieties of adhesives on color fastness to crocking by changing these factors respectively. The results show that: the color fastness to crocking of printing fabric is better when curing temperature is 1800C and curing time is 90s; the wet crocking fastness of printing fabric declined as the pH of ink increased; the color fastness to crocking of fabric printed with ink which prepared use water-based polyurethane is better than use water-based polyacrylate.

Cotton fabric was directly inkjet printed with reactive dye ink, the ink would appear on the permeability of the fabric, the depth of color yield is low, light fastness is poor. Pretreatment agents with different mass fractions had been used to do the pretreatment of the cotton fabric before ink-jet printing, the results showed that: when the concentration of alginate ester or seaweed was between 1.0% -1.5%, the fabrics had the high color yield and the fixation color rate of the dye was the highest. When the amount of NaHCO3 was 3%, the inkjet printing effect of cotton fabrics was the best; color fastness of colors was all good. After Inkjet printing, the best effect can be achieved by steaming the cotton fabrics under the 100 °Csaturated water vapor for 25min: the colors of black, red and yellow of the K / S value were of the maximum, color fastness was fine.

With the development of technologies in digital printing, variable data printing and on-demand printing for producing printing products with personalized information become more and more popular. The technologies make it possible to produce packaging for consumer products that contains personalized information that meets the special needs of individuals. There are two common approaches to produce personalized packaging. One approach is a hybrid process, which adds personalized information by inkjet printing or toner press onto the packaging that is printed primarily by traditional printing methods. This requires the digitally printed colors to match the colors printed by traditional printing methods. Another approach is to print the packaging completely by digital printing. Most commonly, toner-based laser printing is the first option for lower weighted paperboards. This approach is often limited by the print quality of laser printing. This study focused on experimental study on the quality of digital printing for producing personalized packaging. The parameters investigated are color gamut, resolution of lines and fonts. The print quality of digitally printed packaging was compared to traditional packaging producing methods, such as lithography printing, flexography printing, and gravure printing.
