The metastable metallic glasses are studied in the paper. Their properties as the material for producing the sensitive elements of thermometric transducers depend on the peculiarities of manufacturing the mentioned material. The selection of modes of glass production and the correction of modes facilitates to increase in the operating temperatures of the transducers or/and extends their service life.

AbstractTwo Zr-base bulk metallic glasses were investigated in the present work. DSC experiments were performed at different heating rates (dT/dt). Evolution of the characteristic temperatures, glass transition and onset of crystallisation, were determined as a function of dT/dt. Evolution of shear elastic modulus and internal friction are measured as a function of temperature and resulting microstructural evolution; these evolutions are related to variation of the atomic mobility.

Thermal stability of aluminum, iron and copper nanopowders, produced by electrical explosion of wire during heating in the air, was investigated in the work. Thermal analysis method was used for control of thermal stability for nanodispersed metals in heating in the air. It was shown, that after a long time of storage in air electrical explosion metal nanopowders have had extra active ones. Estimation of velocity of flame spreading in poured layer of the powders was carried out. Quality changes in investigated samples, happened for storage time, lead to increase of flame front length and its line velocity. The results of the researches could be used for diagnostics of fire danger of nanodispersed metals, also for selection of working regimes and provision of fire explosion safety for technologies which produce and apply of nanodispersed metal powders. Time-factor have not effected on criteria concerning the danger of the loads and have not changed its marking.

Bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) of Cu45Zr48-xAl7Tix with x= 0, 1.5, and 3 at.% were prepared by copper mould casting. The corrosion resistance of the BMGs with different Ti contents was examined by potentiodynamic polarization tests and weight loss measurements in 1 N NaOH, 1 N H2SO4, 1 N H2SO4 + 0.01 N NaCl and 0.5 N NaCl solutions, respectively. The newly-developed BMGs’ corrosion resistance in Cl-- or both H+ and Cl--ions containing solutions can be greatly enhanced. The influence of Ti addition on glass forming ability (GFA) and thermal stability was investigated by x-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry in detail. The alloy containing 1.5 at.% Ti exhibits the largest GFA, the critical size comes up to 10 mm in diameter.
