As a new service-oriented manufacturing paradigm, cloud manufacturing (CMfg) was proposed to realize the added-value and on-demand use of manufacturing resource and ability. Compared with cloud computing, the complexity of CMfg cooperation was analyzed. Supply and demand network of enterprises with multifunction and opening characteristics (SDN) was introduced as a new paradigm of manufacturing cooperation. Dynamic, diversity, fully open and inclusive cooperation are the key concept of SDN. The CMfg cooperation based on SDN was analyzed, from three-dimension of lever, function and space. A model of cooperation-oriented CMfg was built. Resource-oriented, service-oriented and innovation-oriented cooperation were proposed to prompt the implementation and the platform building of CMfg, from the business cooperation perspective.

Cloud manufacturing is a novel service-oriented networked manufacturing paradigm for the manufacturing industry. Through aggregating distributed manufacturing resources from different enterprises and transforming them into services, cloud manufacturing is able to provide on-demand manufacturing services to customers. Scheduling, including resource scheduling and task scheduling, is a critical instrument for achieving on-demand service provisioning, and also an important research issue in cloud manufacturing. In the process of service scheduling in cloud manufacturing, the manufacturing services are firstly matched according to the service demander’s functional requirements and service availability to form the candidate service sets. And then the optimized service scheduling scheme is generated according to the service demander’s non-functional requirements. The individual requirements of service demanders are analyzed from aspects of functional and non-functional requirements in this paper. On this basis, the scheduling process for individual requirements in cloud manufacturing system is studied and a cloud manufacturing service scheduling method is proposed. This work can provide support and foundation for the related research of task planning and scheduling in cloud manufacturing system. Finally, a case study is given to verify the proposed service scheduling method.

Cloud Manufacturing is an advanced manufacturing model which provides services by utilizing a shared resource pool such as computers, servers, networking, Internet and application softwares. The term Cloud Manufacturing in the engineering literature is still fairly new. it comes from the term Cloud Computing which is earlier known as Internet services on demand. Here includes Software as a Service (SaaS) along with infrastructure, platform and other delieveries as a service. First introduced by F. Tao in 2011, Cloud Manufacturing combines the latest technologies such as cloud computing, internet of thing, manufacturing object virtualizations and service-oriented computing services. The advanced manufacturing service models related to this terminology will be described as literatur reviews in this paper. At the end of this paper was given a case study of the application of the Cloud Manufacturing for designing a web-based production facilities layout as a cloud software as a service for the users.

This paper analyzes the main problems in informatization of china's manufacturing industry, and researches an industrial collaborative manufacturing system for large and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises taking advantage of the benefits of cloud computing such as resource integration, elastic computing, mass data, and service integration. The system includes technical support system, business support system, security system and service portal, which providing design collaboration services, production collaboration services, business collaboration services, office collaboration services for enterprises, and forming a complete standard system. This will further promote the innovation of the service model and change of economic growth mode in our country.

Cloud manufacturing is gradually transforming the way enterprises do business from traditional production-oriented manufacturing to service-oriented manufacturing. The development of cloud manufacturing in industry practice is closely related to domain-specific user experience. The huge amount of users with diverse roles and various requirements in manufacturing industry are facing great challenges of cloud system usability problems. Thus, user interface issues play a significant role in pushing this new area forward. In this paper, we discuss the key characteristics of intelligent user interface (IUI) for cloud manufacturing, i.e., naturality, smart mobility, self-configuration, and flexible customization. Further, a cloud-plus-IUI model for cloud end-users is presented. Then we discuss the enabling technologies, i.e., automatic configuration based on virtualization, context-aware adaption and recommendation, and multimodal interaction. Finally, we present SketchPart, a sketch-based pad system prototype for searching part drawings in the cloud, to show the advantages of the proposed cloud-plus-IUI solution.

On-demand computing power at modest cost, tied with faster Internet accessibility in the Cloud has offered the future of Cloud libraries. This chapter presents a snapshot of what is happening in the arena of Cloud libraries. It presents the features, its promises, components that drive a Cloud library, users and the services, infrastructure, information sources, and retrieval strategies in the Cloud. Further, it presents a Cloud strategic planning model for its realization in libraries. Whereas a lot of work has been done on the technical aspects and implications in health and medical services, there is lack of focus on the implication of Cloud computing in a library setting. This chapter is a self-conscious attempt in filling some of the gaps.

Cloud computing is the new consolidated trend in ICT, often considered as the panacea to all the problems of existing large-scale distributed paradigms such as Grid and hierarchical clustering. The Cloud breakthrough is the service oriented perspective of providing everything “as a service”. Different from the others large-scale distributed paradigms, it was born from commercial contexts, with the aim of selling the temporarily unexploited computing resources of huge datacenters in order to reduce the costs. Since this business model is really attractive and convenient for both providers and consumers, the Cloud paradigm is quickly growing and widely spreading, even in non commercial context. In fact, several activities on the Cloud, such as Nimbus, Eucalyptus, OpenNEbula, and Reservoir, etc., have been undertaken, aiming at specifying open Cloud infrastructure middleware.

Based on the philosophy of cloud computing and cloud manufacturing, cloud process management, a new intelligently network process management model, is proposed. And it is service-oriented, highly efficient, and knowledge-based. On the base of the study of contemporary process management, cloud computing, and cloud manufacturing, product life cycle-oriented cloud process management is researched with the survey of a large state-owned enterprise. The cloud process management is initially defined. The structure model of cloud process management is expounded. And the application mode of product life cycle-oriented cloud process management is initially put forward. These establish the foundation for further research.
