ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to improve students’ mathematical creative thinking ability in the classroom taught using Problem Based Learning (PBL). The design of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The object of this research is the implementation of PBL model. Thesubject of this research is all students in class VIII-A SMP Negeri 4Balige academic year 2017/1018 consist of 32 students. The result of this research are: (1) The number of students who reach category completed for MCTA test in cycle I are 8 persons with percentage of completeness is 25%, students not completed are 24 persons with percentage of completeness is 75% and the score of MCTA reached is 1,97 in low criteria, (2) The number of students who reach category completed for MCTA test in cycle II are 25 persons with percentage of completeness is 78,125%, students not completed are 7 persons with percentage of completeness is 21,875% and the score of MCTA reached is 2,81 in high criteria (3) Learning by implemented PBL model could make the students’ activity was good category in learning, and (4) Learning by implemented PBL model can improve students’ mathematical creative thinking ability. Keywords: Mathematical Creative Thinking, Problem Based Learning

Creative thinking ability of students is still low and less attention in the implementation of the learning of mathematics. Some efforts are needed to foster creative thinking ability because of lack of creative thinking ability in the learning of mathematics. One of effort is applying Problem Based Learning (PBL) Model. The purpose of this research was (1) to describe the creative thinking ability of students during the learning process with PBL Model, and (2) to determine the increase of the creative thinking ability of students after implementation of PBL model. This research used mixed methods with concurrent triangulation strategy. Samples were selected by random sampling from all grade 8 students from one of junior high school at Banda Aceh, those were 28 students in class VIII-3. The instrument used to obtain data of the creative thinking ability of students after learning with PBL Model was test and observation. The instrument used to obtain data to determine the increase of the students’ creative thinking ability after learning with the PBL model were pretest and posttest. Test and observations were analyzed by using an assessment rubric of creative thinking abilities with descriptive qualitative method. The result of pretest and posttest were analyzed by statistical tests using t-test. The results showed that the students were creative in solving problems during the learning process with model of PBL. There was increasing creative thinking abilities of students after learning with PBL Model. The implication of this research indicates that creative thinking abilities of students increase through PBL model.

This study aims to examine and analyze the students' creative thinking ability. The population in this study is the students of grade VIII junior high school in one of the schools in Karawang. This classroom action research is planned to consist of 2 (two) cycles. Firstly given initial tests with a view to know the initial ability of students and related to the material wake up space. In the first cycle, the remaining able to answer the problem well reach 36.6%. From the results of tests in the first cycle can be said the ability of creative thinking students is still low.

The purpose of this study to identify the Difficulties and disadvantages experience by learners in terms of the process of settlement problems of mathematical creative thinking abilities part of indicators. The research instrument used was a matter of mathematics creative thinking ability test and interview guidelines Subject in this study in class VIII-D Junior High School. Based on the research results, Difficulties and disadvantages experienced by learners when solving test creative thinking abilities mathematics include, most learners do not express a variety of ideas, ideas or plans of settlement diverse, does not solve the problem in various ways, does not try to solve problems in ways own or use a non-standard way, and most learners do not develop and elaborate the answer in solving problems.

The aim of this study was determine the differences of the ability of mathematical creative thinking and the differences in the increase between classes using Problem Based Learning (control class) and the class that uses a model of Problem Based Learning with tangram. The research method used is quasi experimental design of non-equivalent pre-test-post-test control group design. The population in this study were all students of class VII junior high school in Kuningan in the even semester of the academic year 2017/2018. Through purposive sampling technique, 2 classes of 10 classes were selected as samples where the class VIIA as the control class and VIIB as experimental class with a total sample of 70 students. Data collection techniques were obtained through mathematical creative thinking ability test and data analysis technique included normality test, homogeneity test, and t test. The results showed that there were difference in mathematical creative thinking ability and there were difference in the increase between the classes using Problem Based Learning and the classes using a model of Problem Based Learning with tangram.

This study aims to examine the improvement of student’s creative thinking ability of Class VIII on the material of two-variable linear equation system through open ended approach. This type of research is classroom action research. The method of this research is qualitative descriptive. This research was conducted on grade VIII-C student of SMP Darul Falah in the academic year 2017/2018 with 36 student. The instrument used in a student’s mathematical creative thinking test, cycle I and II test (after giving of action), and an observation sheet for teachers and students to conditions of action implementation. The result of this study indicate that the aspect of matehematical thinking creative ability of students has increased because of the problems tested in each test, the more students who score above the KKM. Based on the work indicator, it is concluded that the mathematical creative thinking ability of grade VIII-C students of SMP Darul Falah on two-variable linear equation system can be improved through open ended approach.
