ZnO thin films have been deposited onto the glass-substrates by the sol-gel spin coating method at different chuck rotation rates. This method was used for the preparation of thin films on the important semiconductors ІІ-VІ. The effect of deposition parameters on the structural, optical and electrical properties of the ZnO thin film was investigated. Zinc acetate dehydrate, 2- methoxethanol and monoethanolamine (MEA) were used as a starting material, solvent and stabilizer, respectively. XRD of the dried gel showed that weight loss continued until 300°C, with smallest particle size at 400 rpm spin coating speed.

Al and Sb codoped ZnO thin films were prepared through a sol-gel spin coating method on glass substrates and annealed in different atmospheres. The XRD results show that the films have hexagonal wurtzite ZnO structure and SEM results reveal that the films annealed in hydrogen consist of hexagonal nanorods with diameters of 84 nm and lengths of 422 nm, however the films annealed in other atmospheres without nanorods. The photoluminescence (PL) spectrum shows that the emission peaks of the films are mostly at 390 and 460 nm, and the film annealed in hydrogen has the strongest intensity of peak at 390 nm and the film annealed in air has the strongest intensity of peak at 460 nm. The electrical properties show that the films annealed in hydrogen have a lowest resistivity of 1.02×10-3 Ω•cm.

The effect of annealing temperatures on the Zinc Oxide (ZnO) thin films properties has been investigated. 1.0 M ZnO solution was prepared by sol-gel method as coating solution for ZnO thin films deposition process. The thin films deposition was conducted by spin-coating technique on the silicon and glass substrates. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images reveal the evolution of ZnO surface morphology with annealing temperatures. The crystallinity improvement occurred at higher annealing temperature as shown by x-ray diffraction (XRD) result. The optical properties found to be varied at different annealing temperatures. The current-voltage (I-V) measurement results suggested the improvement of ZnO thin film electrical properties with annealing temperatures.

ZnO thin films have been deposited onto the glass substrates by the sol-gel spin coating method at different chuck rotation rates. The effect of deposition parameters on the structural, optical and electrical properties of the ZnO thin films was investigated. The crystal structure and orientation of the ZnO thin films were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns. The optical absorbance and transmittance measurements were recorded by using a double beam spectrophotometer. The optical absorption studies reveal that the transition is direct band gap energy. The I-V plots of the ZnO thin films were carried out in dark and under UV-illumination. The result shows the obtained ZnO thin films can be used as a photovoltaic material.

AbstractZinc acetate was used as a starting material to prepare Zn-solutions from solvents and ligands with different boiling temperature. The ZnO thin films were prepared on Si(1 0 0) substrates by spin-coating method. The effect of baking temperature and boiling temperature of the solvents and ligands on their morphologies and orientation was investigated. The solvents and ligands with high boiling temperature were favorable for relaxation of mechanical stress to form the smooth ZnO thin films. As the solvents and ligands with low boiling temperature were used to prepare Zn-solutions, the prepared ZnO thin films showed (0 0 2) preferred orientation. As n-propanol, 2-methoxyethanol, 2-(methylamino)ethanol and monoethanolamine were used to prepare Zn-solutions, highly (0 0 2)-oriented ZnO thin films were formed by adjusting the baking temperature.

TiO2 thin films have been deposited onto well cleaned glass substrates by sol–gel spin coating method. The prepared TiO2 films have been annealed at different temperatures (350°C, 450°C and 550°C). The structural properties of the films have been studied using X-ray diffraction method and High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope (HRTEM). The as-deposited films have been found to be amorphous in nature. The crystalline quality has been observed to improve with annealing temperature. The annealed TiO2 films have been found to exhibit anatase phase. The optical properties have been studied using transmittance spectrum.
