This paper describes the career development to 1978 of four samples of people who entered Australian universities in 1965 or 1967. The study reported is based upon data obtained by means of a mail questionnaire survey from 1,490 respondents. The data were obtained from former students of engineering, law, medicine and teaching, and were analysed using standard techniques. Information is presented concerning the qualifications and professional status of the members of the four samples, their jobs and job changes, and influences on their job choices. The career progression of the four samples varied considerably. Significant numbers did not graduate in their chosen fields. However, the results suggest a great deal of occupational/professional stability founded upon original career plans.

Objective: The objective of this study was to disseminate advice imparted to early career psychiatrists by a panel of senior colleagues at a Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists symposium, reflecting on things they wished they had known at the earlier stage in their careers. Methods: Key themes were extracted from notes taken at the symposium, where opinions were expressed by three senior psychiatrists. Results: There are components in building a sustainable career as a psychiatrist, which include considering one’s work environment and relationships with colleagues; self-care, mentorship and reflective practice; and seeking opportunities to teach and research for career progression. Conclusions: The mentorship and advice from senior colleagues can be highly influential. In order to sustain a career that has reward, meaning and longevity, psychiatrists would do well to pay attention to aspects of self-care, stay connected to their loved ones, seek an optimal work–life balance and take an interest in their long term career plans.

This paper is an empirical study that highlights the usage of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system among individual users.  Questionnaire survey was carried out with measures gleaned from the literature. In this study we have proposed and tested a hierarchical reflective model of quality unlike other studies. The results support the higher order hierarchical reflective model tested using the Partial least Squares (PLS) software of SmartPLS. We further found support for all the hypotheses developed. Quality was a significant predictor of continuance intention and satisfaction. Satisfaction also drives continuance intention and mediates the effect of quality on the continuance intention relationship. Implications of the findings are further explored.

This study focuses on the importance of transparency and accountability of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED)'s procurement performance based on 45 predetermined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The main objectives of this study are to find the extent of compliance of PPR 2008 by LGED and to identify gaps in compliance and scope of improvement for implementation. For this study, a questionnaire survey method collected data from different stakeholders related to procurement activities of LGED. Key informant interviews were also conducted with senior officers of LGED and IMED. The study result shows a clear adherence to the rules of PPR 2008 by LGED in operating its procurement functions except when paying interest for delayed payment. This study was confined to compliance issues covering 11 KPIs set by the Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU).
