The article is devoted to professionally-oriented a foreign language teaching at a university, which today is one of the links of training a competitive specialist. The author describes the meaning of practical application of a foreign language. The problem of searching a way to improve the quality of foreign language teaching of university students is considered. This chapter describes how the synthesized English speech sound generated by a commercial TTS engine (Pentax “VoiceText”) is utilized within a CALL room environment as well as within the Moodle-based e-Learning environment for an EFL class in an average-level Japanese private university. It also argues that a TTS synthesized speech material will open a completely new horizon in foreign language teaching, implementing a ubiquitous multimedia learning environment at a significantly low cost.

The article deals with the foreign language training in Russian Universities and the development of professional competencies of the graduates. The reasons for employers’ dissatisfaction with the quality of young personnel’s education are analyzed. An interdisciplinary model of professionally oriented foreign language teaching is considered as one of the means of students’ competencies forming. The potential of project tasks in this model is described, and their advantages in comparison with traditional foreign language teaching methods are indicated. The authors present the system of individual and group projects in English used in Petrozavodsk State University. Besides, the authors describe the stages of students ’activities, give specific examples of projects and analyze difficulties in organizing students’ project work. The article contains an analysis of the results of student surveys confirming the feasibility of using professionally-oriented project tasks in teaching a foreign language at a university.

The article highlights the changes in the methodology of teaching English. The communicative approach to language teaching in the context of integration and globalization, its basic methods and tools have been considered. New opportunities for ensuring future specialists' communicative and intercultural competence have been described. The concept of edutainment as a new format of communicative direction in foreign language teaching, project method, mobile learning and modular method of teaching and learning English have been analyzed. It was also determined that the communicative approach helps students to take part in discussions and to overcome the language barrier. It aims to enhance foreign language teaching by means of teachers and students interaction based on linguistic theory and communicative methodology of language teaching. The article outlines the importance of information sources of a foreign language that expand capacities and quality of education as well as form efficient education process and activities of teachers and students. The article analyzes experimental results on application of communicative methodology in teaching students. It deals with the problem of learning process modernization with applying communicative methodology and communication in e-teaching. This is seen as an important condition for integration into international environment. The article discusses the advantages of education and innovative technology in comparison with traditional forms of training. The results of the study show that the use of innovative teaching methods and tools expands opportunities and improves the quality of education.

The teaching quality of foreign language courses is constrained by various factors. It is no easy task to improve the teaching quality or evaluate it in a reliable manner. To solve the problem, this paper attempts to design feasible strategies for improving the teaching quality of foreign language courses. Firstly, theoretical analysis was carried out on the development of foreign language teaching and the factors affecting the teaching quality, revealing the key obstacles to improving the teaching quality. On this basis, several strategies and paths were put forward to improve the quality of foreign language teaching. In addition, a novel evaluation indicator system and a multi-attribute fuzzy evaluation model were established for the teaching quality of foreign language courses. The research results provide strong supports to the teaching optimization of foreign language courses.

We all know that ensuring the quality of foreign language teaching of the younger generation, radically improving the system of training specialists fluent in foreign languages, the development of foreign languages ​​that meet international educational standards.  Training is one of the goals of the ongoing educational reform in our country.  In order to identify and identify opportunities for language teaching, the teacher's knowledge, creativity, ability to arouse students' love for their subject, to establish a cooperative relationship with the student requires modern requirements.  The decision is aimed at further development of foreign language teaching, implementation of measures to improve the level and quality of training of highly qualified teachers of foreign languages ​​for secondary schools, vocational colleges and academic lyceums, higher education institutions in accordance with international standards.   At the same time, it should be noted that each language studied has its own rules and secrets.  In order to become a professional who meets international standards, the learner is required to ignore the most delicate layers of language.
