This research aimed to explain the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension dealing with main ideas and sequence details and interpretive comprehension dealing with prediction outcomes and conclusion. To explain the improvement, the researcher used a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken at the ninth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Mariso, Makassar with a number of the subject were 36 students. The research findings indicated that the implementation of Mood Understand Recall Digest Expand and Review (MURDER) Strategy was improved the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension and interpretive comprehension. It was proved by the mean score of cycle I was 64.31. It was classified as fair then improved to be 71.20. It was classified as fairly good in cycle II. They are higher than the mean score of diagnostic test 52.21 that classified as poor. Therefore there was improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension dealing with main ideas and sequence of details and interpretive comprehension dealing with prediction of outcomes and conclusion.

This research aimed to explain the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of Literal Reading of the text dealing with main ideas and sequence of details and Creative Reading of the text dealing withcharacterization and conclusion. The researcher used a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken at the first grade students of SMAN 1 Bontomarannu  with a number of the subject were 35 students. The research findings indicated that the application of SMAN 1 Bontomarannu, This strategy was improving the students’ reading comprehension in terms ofLiteral reading  and Creative reading of the text. It was proved by the mean score of cycle I was 60.7. It was classified as fair then improved to be 73.36. It was classified as good in cycle II. They are higher than the mean score of diagnostic test namely 50.7 that classified as poor. Therefore there was the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of Literal Reading of the text dealing with main ideas and sequence of details and Creative Reading of the text dealing withcharacterization and conclusion.

This research aimed to explain the improved of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension dealing with main idea and details and summarizing dealing with content and logical order. A classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken at X students of SMA Gunung Sari Makassar with a number of the subject were 20 students. The research findings indicate that the application of Three Minute Pause strategy was significant in improving the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension and summarizing. It was proved by the mean score of the cycle I was 6.88then increased to be 7.87 in cycle II. They were higher than the mean score of diagnostic test namely 4.77. It means that there was the improved of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension dealing with main idea and details and summarizing dealing with content and logical order.

This research aimed at finding out the improvement of the students’  ability in translating English into Indonesian especially for Recount text in terms of the meaning and style of the original text. The researcher used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) to explain the improvement, which was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken in the second year of Junior High School 2 Sungguminasa with the number of the subject i.e. 36 students. The research findings indicate that the application of Duff’s Principles is significant in improving the students’ translating ability in terms of meaning and style of the original text. It is proved by the mean score of the cycle I is 60.27 then improved to be 72.49 in cycle II. They are higher than the mean score of diagnostic test namely 56.45. This research aimed at find out the improvement of the students’ writing descriptive paragraph viewed from its content with unity and completeness, language use dealing with tense and preposition through DLC Technique at the eighth grade of MTs.Muhammadiyah Tongko. The technique of this research was a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The instrument of the research was observation sheet and writing test indicated that the students have high score in writing achievement. The location of this research was taken at the eighth grade of MTs.Muhammadiyah Tongko with a number of the subject were 30 students. The research findings indicated that the application of DLC Technique was significant in improving the students’ writing descriptive paragraph viewed from content and language use. It was proved by the mean score of cycle I was 63.99. It was classified as fair then improved to be 75.50. It was classified as good in cycle II. They are higher than the mean score of diagnostic test namely 50.99 that classified as poor. Therefore there was the improvement of the students’ writing descriptive paragraph viewed from its content with unity and completeness, and language use dealing with tense and preposition.

This research aimed to explain the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension dealing with and word meaning main ideas and interpretive comprehension dealing conclusion. To explain the improvement, the researcher used a classroom action research (CAR) which was conducted in two cycles in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken from the first semester students of English Education Department with a number of the subject were 25 students. The research findings indicated that the application of Inquiry Method was significant in improving the students’ reading comprehension in terms of literal comprehension and interpretive comprehension. It was proved by the mean score of the cycle I was 68, 47. It was classified as fair then improved to be 81, 20. It was classified as good in cycle II. They are higher than the mean score of diagnostic test namely 58.40 that classified as poor. This research aimed at explaining the improvement  of the  students’ reading comprehension focused on identifying the main idea and getting detail at SMP Negeri 33 Makassar. To explain the improvement, the researcher used a classroom action research  (CAR)  which was  conducted in  two cycles  in which every cycle consisted of four meetings. The location of this research was taken from the second-grade student of SMP Negeri 33 Makassar with the number of the subject i.e. 30 students which consisted 14 men and 16 women. Based on the text above the research findings indicated that the use of Explicit Teaching Strategy was significant in improving the students’ reading comprehension which focused on identifying the main idea and getting detail. It was proved by the mean score of Diagnostic Test was 4.94 that classified poor. The improvement in Cycle I was 6.11 that classified fair and Cycle II was 7.26 that classified fairly good. While the standard target achievement was 6.5, it means that the standard target achievement had been achieved.Keywords: reading comprehension, main idea, classroom action research

This research was a classroom action research (CAR). The objective of this research was to find out students’ vocabulary mastery especially its application in a correct sentence pattern by using Word Wall method to the ninth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Mamuju. This research consisted of three cycles. There were 30 students in one class that followed this research. The result showed there was improvement of the students’ vocabulary. It could be seen on their average score in the first cycle improved by 49.25%, from the diagnostic test 34.83%. Then, it improved more in the second cycle by 60.8% and more in the third cycle that achieves 68.25%. However, despite getting the students’ average score improved, after applying the three cycles, it is still not success achieving the Minimum Completeness Criteria (MCC) of the subject that was 75.

<p>The objectives of this research are to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery and the student’s activeness in speaking through Engage, Study and Activate Method at the second year students of SMP Negeri 26Makassar. This research used Classroom Action Research that comprises of two cycles. The research population is the second year students of SMP Negeri 26 Makassar, and the sample of this research comprises of 25 students. The researcher obtained the data by using a speaking test and observation sheet.The results of this research show that there is animprovement in students' vocabularybetween the cycle I and Cycle II. The mean scores of students in the diagnostic test are 4.7 became 6.21 in cycle I, and after doing a revision in the cycle II the mean score in cycle II is7.45 then the activeness of students also improve from first meeting 53 % became 92% in the last meeting and achieved the minimal criteria, 65. The research findings indicate that the use of Engage, Study and Activate method can enrich the students’ vocabulary mastery and improve the students’ activeness in speaking.</p>

This research aimed to find the use of Patterned Partner Reading strategy improve the students reading comprehension at the SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung. The researcher used A Classroom Action Research (CAR). The researcher had conducted two cycles, where each cycle consisted of four meetings. This classroom action research was one at SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung. As subject in this research was the second class with students’ number as about 30 students consist of 7 man and 23 women. The instruments were observation sheet and test sheet. The research findings indicated that the application of patterned partner reading strategy was effective and significant in improving the students’ reading skill especially students’ reading comprehension. It was proved that the mean score of D-Test was 60.8, Cycle I 75.5 and after conducted Cycle II improved to 93 And based of mean score of students’ reading comprehension during two cycle researcher found percentage improvement that is from D-Test to Cycle I is 24.17% and from Cycle I to Cycle II is 23.17 and D-Test to Cycle II 52.96%. It means that there was the improvement of students’ reading comprehension on learning process.
