Introduction: Psychosomatic experts have tried to associate mental disorders to physical illnesses. The vulnerability of different parts of the body is thought to depend on fundamental differences between individuals. One of the methods that seems to affect the psychological problems of asthma patients is acceptance and commitment therapy. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of acceptance- and commitment-based therapy on resilience, psychological well-being, and life expectancy in asthmatic patients. Methods: This quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test study was conducted on 30 asthmatic patients who were randomly assigned to the experimental (n = 15) and control (n = 15) groups according to the inclusion criteria. Acceptance and commitment therapy sessions were based on the treatment package of Hayes et al. in 8 sessions of 60 minutes on the experimental group and no intervention was performed on the control group. All participants took part in the pre-test and post-test. Collection tools included Conner-Davidson Resilience Questionnaire, Schneider Life expectancy, and Ryf Psychological Well-being. Results: The results showed a significant difference in the components of resilience, psychological well-being, and life expectancy in asthmatic patients before and after the experiment (p <0.05). In other words, acceptance and commitment-based therapy had a positive effect on resilience, psychological well-being and life expectancy in asthmatic patients and these components have increased in patients. Conclusion: Findings showed that acceptance- and commitment-based therapy was effective on resilience, psychological well-being, and life expectancy of asthmatic patients. This treatment is suggested to be used in conjunction with drug therapy to improve the psychological symptoms of asthmatic patients.

Introdution: Epilepsy is known as a cerebrovascular disorder with a continuing readiness for epileptic seizures and psychological neuropsychological outcomes. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy on psychological well-being, quality of life and depression in patients with epilepsy. Methods: The study was a quasi- experimental with a pre-test, post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the study consisted of 76 patients, of whom 20 were selected by available sampling method and they were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group received the acceptance and commitment group therapy in eight sessions each of which in two hours. Before and after the intervention, the Multidimensional Reef psychological well-being questionnaire, Quality of life questionnaire, Beck Depression Inventory was administrated in both groups.  Data were analyzed using covariance test and SPSS20 software. Results: The findings of this study showed that acceptance and commitment based treatment had a significant effect on psychological well-being, quality of life and depression in the level of error less than p <0.0001. And the result of P-value was reported as 42.602, 17. 927, 53.528, respectively. Conclusion: The results of this study show that acceptance and commitment therapy is significantly effective in the patients with epilepsy using techniques such as attention to the present time, acceptance and cognitive impairment in increasing psychological well-being and quality of life and reducing depression. Considering the effect of admission therapy and commitment in using this method at all levels of prevention and treatment of the patients with physical and mental illness seems necessary.

  The aim of the study was to investigate the effectiveness of a brief program based on acceptance and commitment therapy to increase the psychological well-being of renal failure patients. the sample consisted of 26 female patients with renal failure, aged between 35 and 48 years, were randomly divided equally into two groups (i.e. quasi/semi-experimental group with a mean age of (41.27) year and a standard deviation of (4.23) and control group with a mean age of 38.87 year and a standard deviation of (3.25). The study instruments were a Demographic Data Form and psychological well-being Scale for Renal Failure Patients, all these tools are prepared by the researcher. The results showed that short acceptance and commitment program effect a significant increase in psychological well-being in patients with renal failure, and this increase is maintained when measured two months after termination.

IntroductionThis randomised controlled trial (RCT) aims to examine the effects of an internet-delivered acceptance and commitment therapy (iACT) programme (‘Happiness Mom’) on the psychological well-being of working mothers.Methods and analysisThe target population of the RCT will be employed mothers with at least one preschool child. Participants who fulfil the study’s eligibility criteria will be randomly assigned either to an iACT intervention group (n=200) or to a wait-list control group (n=200). Participants in the intervention groups will be asked to complete the programme within 12 weeks of the baseline survey. The intervention programme contains eight modules based on ACT. Primary outcomes are six components of psychological well-being, based on Ryff’s theory. Secondary outcomes are intention to leave their job, work engagement, work performance, sick leave days, psychological distress, euthymia, positive emotions, job and life satisfaction, social support and parental burn-out.Ethics and disseminationEthical approval for this study has been obtained from the Research Ethics Review Board of Graduate School of Medicine, the University of Tokyo (No. 2019134NI). If the intervention programmes are found to be significantly beneficial, the programmes can be made available for all working mothers with preschool children in Japan.DiscussionThis study will contribute to the development of an internet-based self-care programme that is effective, feasible, low cost and accessible to improve the well-being of working mothers.Trial registration numberUMIN000039918.

Background: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has been demonstrated as effective in improving psychological well-being in several clinical domains, but there is no evidence regarding the parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Methods: In this randomized controlled trial, we evaluated the efficacy of the ACT matrix behavioral protocol in comparison to the Parent Training (PT) program, measuring several primary and secondary outcomes prior to and following treatments. Twelve parents were randomly and equally assigned to two demographically matched groups wherein individuals underwent 24 weekly meetings of ACT protocol (experimental group) or conventional PT (control group). Results: Parents enrolled in the ACT protocol demonstrated significant improvement in psychological flexibility, awareness states, personal values in everyday life, and parental stress, whereas reduced scores were elicited in parents’ perceptions of their child’s disruptive behaviors. Conclusions: The results of this randomized controlled trial, if repeated with a large number of subjects, could open the way to include ACT protocols in daily practice to support the development of new parenting skills.
