The current situation of taxation of electronic commerce is still in its infancy in regard to its actual implementation as well as in the existence of doctrinal principles and generally accepted guidelines on the characteristics and implementation of taxation. This chapter uses the concepts, analytical tools, and appropriate models of economic analysis to understand and explain the economic phenomena observed in the New Economy and how the public sector can adapt to the new challenges. Thus, the chapter analyzes the optimal design of tax policy for electronic markets, in particular electronic commerce, and the guidelines of antitrust policy in electronic markets. This chapter also analyzes the strategies that can be adopted by firms in the New Economy to avoid or minimize the risk of intervention by antitrust authorities.

The member states of ASEAN have together identified a need to develop the ASEAN Power Grid and enable the multilateral cross-border trade of electricity in a coordinated manner within ASEAN. This has been set out in the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) 2016–25. Moving forward from the current situation, this paper reviews the key components and feasibility of establishing an interconnected and competitive multilateral electricity market within the ASEAN countries. An indicative roadmap is developed based on an in-depth survey of experts to profile an appropriate market design for the multilateral trade of electricity in the ASEAN.

Especially in the transnational region Austria – Slovenia where differences in culture and language are predominant companies have to adapt their behaviour according to the cultural context. Understanding how to adapt to different business contexts is essential for success. Up to now there are no empirically consolidated findings on factors which positively or negatively affect crossborder business in this region. This paper tries to give insights and seeks to provide a systematic overview of the current situation of businesses in the region of Slovenia–Carinthia and which factors influence cross-border business most.
