The theoretical bases for the thesis are cross-cultural foreign language education theory, systemic education theory and multimedia-assisted English teaching theory. At first, the thesis summarizes and analyzes every unit involving cultural knowledge in College English textbook Oxford English used in Shanghai at present, demonstrating the feasibility of culture teaching in the elementary stage of College English. Then based on systemic teaching theories, the thesis analyzes teaching aim, teaching demand, teaching environment, teaching content, teaching strategies, evaluative strategies and implementation of culture teaching. Next, the thesis designs specific courses to match daily teaching activities by way of collecting culture teaching materials, designing culture teaching content and relevant teaching strategies. When designing specific courses, I take advice from experts and teachers on the front, develop three teaching cases and use courseware for teaching practice.

Besides imparting knowledge, college English course is also a language carrier for students to understand western culture and a way to improve their comprehensive cultural literacy. Therefore, under the guidance of General Education theory, this paper attempts to integrate the appreciation of English literary translations into College English teaching, so that non-English majors can improve their English language ability, at the same time, they can improve their critical appreciation ability and cultural accomplishment.

Language is an indispensable part of culture, and it is also a major carrier and medium of culture communication and transmission. Learning a foreign language means not only learning basic language knowledge, training and improving the ability of listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating, but enriching the cross-cultural awareness, cultivating cross-cultural communication competence and making the voice of native culture to communicate with the outside world. Thus, more and more educators and teachers at home and aboard have come to realize the importance of culture teaching in language learning. This paper focuses on inputting culture teaching in College English teaching integrated with specialty characteristics. The importance of culture teaching in college English teaching is analyzed and emphasized and several inspirational and referential strategies of culture teaching integrated with specialty characteristics are also provided.

The relationship between language and culture make culture teaching enter into FLE that cultural understanding of the target language is indispensable. But much emphasis on western culture led to Chinese culture aphasia among Chinese English learners. Consequently, an investigation is conducted in this paper to check whether the phenomenon exists; and if so, to test the extent, reasons and feasible solutions of students’ aphasia of Chinese culture. The results demonstrate the tested college students master the Chinese culture well, but have difficulties in translating them into English and some college English teachers are not proficient in translating sentences containing Chinese culture into English. Chinese Culture Aphasia is due mainly to lacking of Chinese culture in college English teaching class. Based on analyzing results of the investigation and summarizing scholars’ teaching strategies, the author claims the incorporation of Chinese culture into college English teaching adhering to certain principles, effective teaching strategies including preparing reasonable syllabus and improving teachers’ comprehensive qualities.

This paper discusses how college English teaching of listening and speaking can be carried out based on the output-driven, input-enabled hypothesis. The author probes into an integrated teaching mode from the following four aspects, including the change of teacher’s role, the applicability of teaching activity, the cultivation of student’s comprehensive ability to apply language and the objective and effective combination of summative assessment and process assessment. In teaching process, the teacher should be aware of the close interaction between listening and speaking, the stimulation of critical thinking and the importance of culture teaching.

the language has the rich cultural connotation, the relationship between language and culture closely. In the process of college English teaching, we should not only focus on language knowledge teaching and language skills training, and to conduct culture teaching, cultivate students' cross-cultural awareness, improve the students' intercultural communicative competence. The article first introduces the definition of culture and cultural awareness and the relationship between language and culture, and then focus on the content and goal of culture teaching, and the ways to cultivate cross-cultural consciousness and methods, etc.
