Mass media, as the main tool for information support of integration processes of any regional economic association, are designed to ensure the internal stability of the Eurasian Economic Union, without which it is impossible to strengthen its position on the international stage. In this article, through the analysis of news content of the mainstream broadcasters and print and online media of the member states, it was identified, which thematical components of the image of the Eurasian Economic Union, affecting the perception of the young regional association by population, and to what extent they are currently available to mass audience in Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The study showed that the information support of the Eurasian integration, unregulated for five years and transferred to the management of the media themselves, led to that the main topics as of Q4 2019 were: meetings of the leaders of the EAEU states, legislative regulation, as well as the prospects for the development of the relations between the Union countries. At the same time, the vast majority of materials are depersonalized information, rather than personalized materials that illustrate the benefits of integration for the public. All this leads to the formation of information apathy to the integration issues both in society and on the part of the journalists themselves.

Russian procurement regulation exists not merely by itself, but also in the framework of the formation of unified approaches to procurement regulation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). These approaches today are based on a common methodology, although national laws of each state demonstrate various options for implementation. The integration processes affected by the creation of the EAEU also influence public procurement. The formation of a single economic space and unified procurement market as economic bases cannot exist without bringing the national legislation of EAEU member states on public procurement to uniform standards. The trend towards unification and harmonization of procurement legislation in the EAEU member countries requires the creation of a unified market for public procurement of the EAEU to ensure unhindered access to procurements, which will make it possible to expand sales markets under economic pressure from sanctioned non-tariff barriers. This article addresses some of the issues related to public procurement in EAEU member states in light of the functioning procurement systems. The authors make an attempt to reveal some of the main features of the public procurement system based on an analysis of the main legislative acts of the EAEU member countries. The main positive trends in harmonization of the EAEU procurement legislation are described taking into account previous experience. Ways to solve problems are proposed as a result of a comparative analysis of the legislation governing the procurement process in the EAEU member countries. The study also reveals the problems of legal regulation of the supranational level of procurement legislation that impede the effective achievement of the objectives of economic integration and the formation of a unified market for public procurement. The article is an attempt to comprehensively analyze the procurement legislation of the EAEU countries, taking into account the requirements of supranational legislation that is designed to ensure uniformity of legal models for the formation of a procurement system for state customers.

The paper appraises current progress in establishing the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Although the progress has slowed down after the initial rapid advancement, the Union is better viewed not as an exception from the general rules of regional economic integration but rather as one of the functioning customs unions with its successes and stumbling blocs. The paper reviews the state of Eurasian institutions, the establishment of the single market of goods and services, the situation with mutual trade and investment flows among the member states, the ongoing work on the liquidation/unification of non-tariff barriers, the problems of the efficient coordination of macroeconomic policies, progress towards establishing an EAEU network of free trade areas with partners around the world, the state of the common labor market, and the dynamics of public opinion on Eurasian integration in the five member states.

The Eurasian economic Union has adopted the technical regulation «On energy efficiency requirements for energy-consuming devices» (TR EEU 048/2019), which is applied to widely used energy-consuming devices that have a significant share in the energy consumption balance and produce a significant impact on the energy security of the EEU member States. In TR EEU 048/2019 updated quantitative requirements to energy consuming devices, with new, additional requirements for energy efficiency, corresponding to modern level of the development of energy-saving technologies, and harmonization gradually introduced requirements on energy efficiency of energy consuming devices installed in a TR EEU 048/2019, with the requirements of the directives and regulations of the European Union, suggests that energy efficiency in energy-consuming products manufactured in the member States of the Eurasian economic Union, will steadily increase and it should have a positive impact on the competitiveness of energy-consuming goods produced in the territory of the Eurasian economic Union. The introduction of the EAEU TR 048/2019 is an urgent solution for ensuring energy security of the economies and the energies of the member States of the Eurasian economic Union and will promote the promotion of competitive energy-consuming products produced on the territory of the countries of the Eurasian economic Union to the international market and will allow the population to save money on acquisitions of energy efficient energy consuming devices.

The presented study examines the experience of forming a regulatory framework for the integration of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states through the example of standardization as one of the key tools of quality economics.Aim. The study analyzes the major solutions of the EAEU authorities and member countries aimed at increasing the role of standardization in the economic integration of the Union over five years of its existence.Tasks. The authors identify efficient methods for developing standardization for the integration of the EAEU states as well as the most problematic aspects in this field that need to be taken into account in the qualitative strengthening of the Union’s economy.Methods. This study uses general scientific methods of cognition to examine the activities of the EAEU authorities and member states aimed at creating a system for the economic integration of the Union during a period of its transition from separate national markets towards a single (common) market.Results. Over five years of operation in the field of stadardization, the Eurasian Economic Union has created the necessary organizational and legal framework to ensure the successful development of integration processes. The national legislation on standardization has been modernized with allowance for the harmonization of these laws. In the next five-six years, the development of international standards for 40 technical regulations is expected to be completed, which would create a regulatory framework for unhindered interaction between all participants of the single (common) EAEU market. Conclusions. The analysis of activities in the field of standardization reveals a sufficiently thought-out and coordinated policy of the EAEU states in creating the necessary conditions for overcoming legal and administrative barriers in the movement of goods and services within the common economic space of the EAEU.

Twitter is increasingly being used within the sociopolitical domain as a channel through which to circulate information and opinions. Throughout the 2016 US Presidential primaries and general election campaign, a notable feature was the prolific Twitter use of Republican candidate and then nominee, Donald Trump. This use has continued since his election victory and inauguration as President. Trump’s use of Twitter has drawn criticism due to his rhetoric in relation to various issues, including Hillary Clinton, the size of the crowd in attendance at his inauguration, the policies of the former Obama administration, and immigration and foreign policy. One of the most notable features of Trump’s Twitter use has been his repeated ridicule of the mainstream media through pejorative labels such as “fake news” and “fake media.” These labels have been deployed in an attempt to deter the public from trusting media reports, many of which are critical of Trump’s presidency, and to position himself as the only reliable source of truth. However, given the contestable nature of objective truth, it can be argued that Trump himself is a serial offender in the propagation of mis- and disinformation in the same vein that he accuses the media. This article adopts a corpus analysis of Trump’s Twitter discourse to highlight his accusations of fake news and how he operates as a serial spreader of mis- and disinformation. Our data show that Trump uses these accusations to demonstrate allegiance and as a cover for his own spreading of mis- and disinformation that is framed as truth.
