The study carries out optimal design for the cam profile of the valve train in a high-specific-power diesel engine. The dynamic analysis on the original cam reveals that the original one, which leads to adequate fullness coefficient, is designed far from the material margins. The fullness coefficient and time area value are selected as the optimization objective, and the piecewise fucntion method is utilized to optimally design the cam profile. The restrictive contidons are applied to each section on the cam. Thus the function and the optimal coeficients are obtained. Then the dynamic analysis and working process simulation on the optimal valve train are carried out, and it proves that the dynamic and intake port performaces of the optimized one are greatly impoved.

Thermodynamic simulation of a two-stage expansion air-powered engine was established and working process simulation was conducted based on this model. The effects of inlet pressure (0.8Mpa-3.0Mpa), intake duration angle of second-stage (100°CA-160°CA) and cylinder diameter of second-stage (120mm-200mm) on the gas temperature, pressure and output torque were analyzed. The results show that effective power and output torque both increase with the increase of above three parameters, meanwhile effective gas consumption rate decreases.

Similar to other machinery products, numerous analysis and tests would consume large amount of manpower and resources before paddy machinery putting into the mass markets. A method to establish the Virtual Proving Ground (VPG) for paddy machinery is proposed. Parameters stored with model nodes are obtained by collision detection between machine and scene. Motion equations of transplanting mechanism are derived with some simple transformations referring to a rice transplanter. Then working process simulation of the rice transplanter in virtual reality environment is realized by calling functions encapsulated in Vega Prime in a VC++ environment. Moreover some solutions for researching virtual testing are proposed.

Using simulation software, numerical simulation and plateau tests are combined to create the plateau diesel engine process simulation model. External characteristics tests of the diesel engine, plateau simulation experiments and plateau vehicle tests are combined to verify the model. The maximum deviation of the results is less 10%. The simulation model is accurate, which provides a way to study plateau environmental adaptation of diesel engines.
