The study of metals in oil-contaminated peat has double meaning. Firstly, it is diagnostic as convenient and simple The method of soil condition monitoring, and secondly, the ecological method to predict the state of the peat bog as a biocenosis element. Every pollutant elements in contaminated peat are divided into two bands. Some of them (Ti, V, Cr, Ni, Zr, Ba, Y, La, Ce, Nd) accumulate in the upper, bituminous layer of peat. Other elements (halogen chlorine, as well as metals: Ca, Mp, Zn, Cu, Sr), on the contrary, migrate deep into the peat layer with light fractions hydrocarbons. For capturing particularly moving Cu metals, Zn needs to be equipped with artificial geochemical barriers to prevent pollutants from entering groundwater and open ponds.

The article presents an analysis of the dynamics of the main indicators of the state of the le-related complex of the regions of the European North of Russia in the period from 2005 to 2016. The characteristics of the forest fund are given, the dynamics of volumes and shares of timber actually harvested in the regions is presented. The indicators of the average number of employees of organizations of the forest-industrial complex in the context of industries have been analyzed, as well as the share of profitable organizations. On the example of the Vologda region, statistical data characterizing the state of the basic production assets of enterprises of the timber industry complex are considered. An analysis of the structure of shipped goods of its own production, which revealed the presence of certain structural changes in the production of the main types of products in the timber industry. The obtained results of the research testify to the availability of resource potential in the timber industry complex of the regions of the European North and the availability of opportunities to increase production volumes. Among the main problems hampering the dynamic development of logging, woodworking and pulp and paper industries, the unsatisfactory condition of the basic production assets of enterprises, the underdevelopment of transport infrastructure, the lack of qualified personnel, as well as the high level of illegal harvesting of timber are indicated.

This research, carried out in the years 2011–2013, aimed to evaluate Salix lapponum stands in the peat bogs of Polesie Lubelskie Region as well as to determine the condition of the population and the changes that have taken place since the 1950’s. An inventory carried out in 25 stands of S. lapponum known from the literature shows that the number of its stands has decreased by 80% in Polesie Lubelskie Region. In all the confirmed locations, a decrease in population numbers was also found in relation to the data known from the literature since the 1950’s. In the majority of the population locations that were considered to be extinct, there were no significant changes in habitat conditions, and ecological succession and changes in hydrological conditions could have been the cause of habitat changes only at a few sites. In the light of the study, the preservation of the S. lapponum population in Polesie Lubelskie seems to be impossible if appropriate active conservation measures are not taken immediately. Because area-based conservation, which covers most of the habitats of the studied species, does not bring the expected results, the possibility of ex situ conservation and enlargement of the populations existing in the natural environment in peat bog ecosystems in Polesie should be explored.

Various authors have emphasized the spatial information resident in an electron micrograph taken with adequately coherent radiation. In view of the completion of at least one such instrument, this opportunity is taken to summarize the state of the art of processing such micrographs. We use the usual symbols for the aberration coefficients, and supplement these with £ and 6 for the transverse coherence length and the fractional energy spread respectively. He also assume a weak, biologically interesting sample, with principal interest lying in the molecular skeleton remaining after obvious hydrogen loss and other radiation damage has occurred.
