Surabaya is the second most populated city in Indonesia. Its ever-growing population creates a problem with its limited number of low-cost housing. Seeing how slow the progress of constructing low cost vertical housing to meet the demands, it requires a faster and more efficient way. By using a modular construction method, this paper tries to analyze the benefit of using an alternate material such as prefabricated CLT (Cross Laminated Timber) panel. CLT panel shows a high potential in creating a better construction that is more environmentally friendly while still benefiting from a faster and lower cost by overall. Siwalankerto vertical housing was chosen due to its modular style of design and usage of material in its façade that is easier to simulate using a prefabricated material. Its location in Surabaya that is near Gresik where the manufactures capable manufacturing the prefabricated material also make it a great choice. This paper limits itself on construction efficiency and effectiveness simulated towards using prefabricated CLT panel and the effects of said material to the organization of rooms inside the building.

According to Census 2016 from Statistics Canada, Winnipeg and Edmonton have the largest Aboriginal populations among the census metropolitan areas (CMAs), which are areas with a total population of at least 100,000 people. Moreover, Aboriginal populations continues to grow in these metropolitan cities. However, city policies have not been adjusted accordingly to these changes, nor are they sufficient to address the Aboriginal community’s vulnerability especially regarding lower-cost housing. Exploring the condition of low-cost housing in the context of Winnipeg and Edmonton is essential due to the fact that this sector is directly influenced by the intersecting factors that make Aboriginal populations vulnerable. In addition to examining the condition of lower-cost housing, evidence of policy learning will also be analyzed. Policy learning involves evaluating past practices, recognize past policies, and is also a crucial part to avoiding failures in future policies. Unfortunately, it seems that for Winnipeg and Edmonton, it is not possible for authorities to address insufficient low-cost housing for the Aboriginal community through adequate policies.

Paper bricks are key construction materials for buildings in general and for low cost housing in particular. To keep up with sustainable development movements and increasing competitive pressure in the industry, building materials of the upcoming have to be of lesser weight, more force capable and lower cost. The use of recycled materials is also critical for longterm sustainability. The intention of this paper is to develop lightweight paper brick from waste paper with lowest amount. The paper was hydrating and spin to obtain paper mash slurry after mixing with cement, and cast to shape. Compressive strength and water absorption were found. The results showed that investigational bricks are upper compressive force, water absorption when compared to those of existing masonry blocks. Quick cost estimation indicated that bricks could be made at a lower cost than those available in the market. It is fulfilled that paper bricks as of waste paper possess smart property and high-quality strengths. Sustainable and rate issues are also addressed. The result show the arrangement of paper dissipate and cement provides improved results for produce economical latest bricks.

In this study, a low-cost and adaptable isometric strength measurement and exercise development system are described. The implemented system consists of mechanical structure, force measurement sensor, electronic circuit, and computer software. Isometric-isotonic (via spring resistance) strength analysis and various exercise programs can be applied with the system. The developed system has a lower cost compared to its counterparts in the literature and has a structure that can be adapted to different machines and measuring methods. The operability and reliability of the isometric strength measurement and exercise development system have been proven by calibration tests.

Modular construction, which involves unit production in factories and on-site work, has benefits such as low cost, high quality, and short duration, resulting from the controlled factory environment utilized. An efficient tower crane lifting plan ensures successful high-rise modular project completion. For improved efficiency, the lifting plan should minimize the reaching distance of the tower crane, because this distance directly affects the tower crane capacity, which is directly related to crane operation cost. In situations where units are lifted from trailers, the trailer-to-tower crane distance can have a significant impact on the tower crane operation efficiency. However, optimization of this distance to improve efficiency has not been sufficiently considered. This research proposes a genetic algorithm optimization model that suggests optimized tower crane and trailer locations. The case study results show that through the proposed model, the project manager can reflect the optimal location selection and optimal tower crane selection options with minimal cost.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the replacement of Gum Arabic for sodium chloride to reduce fat and organic contents in dairy wastewater using two low cost commercially available lipase preparations from animal source (Kin Master - LKM and Nuclear- LNU). The best performance was achieved when lipase Nuclear (LNU) was used as catalyst. In addition, this lipase preparation has also lower cost, which makes its use a quite promising technique for reduction of suspended solids as proteins and lipids contents found in wastewater generated by dairy industries.

Network security technology ensures secure data transmission in network. Meanwhile, it brings extra overhead of security system in terms of cost and performance, which seriously affects the rapid development of existing high-speed encryption systems. The existing encryption technology cannot meet the demand of high security, low cost and high real-time. For solving above problems, an ECC encryption engine architecture based on scalable public key cipher and a high-speed configurable multiplication algorithm are designed. The algorithm was tested on FPGA platform and the experiment results show that the system has better computation speed and lower cost overhead. By comparing with other systems, our system has benefits in terms of hardware overhead and encryption time ratio
