Abdominal pregnancy is extremely rare, and has been historically defined as an implantation in the peritoneal cavity exclusive of tubal, ovarian and intraligamentary pregnancy. Abdominal pregnancy can be primary or secondary. The presence of abdominal pregnancy is associated with increased maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. The reported incidence of abdominal pregnancy ranges from 1 per 2200 to 1 per 10,200 pregnancies1. The early recognition and management of the same is necessary to prevent untoward complications. This case report describes an interesting case of a 16 year primigravida with a live secondary abdominal pregnancy. NJOG 2011 Nov-Dec; 6 (2): 44-46 DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/njog.v6i2.6756

This article illustrates a patient who presented with acute inferior myocardial infarction with only isolated ST segment elevation in Lead III. Brief review on the electrocardiographic interpretation was discussed. Early recognition and management is the key to prevent morbidity and mortality.

Necrobiotic xanthogranuloma (NXG) is a rare destructive xanthomatous granuloma with chronic, indolent, and progressive course. The morbidity and mortality are the results from wound complications and associated disorders. Because of its strong association with monoclonal gammopathy and multiple myeloma, early recognition of disease is mandatory to monitor and prevent systemic involvements of hematologic malignancies.

Abstract.Premature Rupture of Membranes (PROM) is the rupture of amniotic sac prior to the onset of labor beyond 37 week of gestation. Premature Rupture of Membranes occurs in 1% ofall pregnancies. Premature Rupture of Membranes causes 1/3 preterm delivery and a major  18%-20% cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality. In this case report we reported a 35 year old woman with pregnant 3rd child, aterm wiht Premateur rupture of Membrane (PROM) and prior to labor. This report aims to improve the quality of early diagnosis and management of premature rupture of membranes to reduce the risk for the mother and fetus.

Reported here is a silent case of an abdominal pregnancy with fetal demise at twenty one weeks gestation, extracted from the peritoneal cavity at laparotomy along with the removal of placenta contained in fallopian tube by salphingectomy without any effort. Tuberous sclerosis is a disorder affecting multiple organs leading to morbidity and mortality. It is important to make an early diagnosis of tuberous sclerosis so that lifelong monitoring, early recognition of complications and proactive treatment can lower the morbidity and mortality rates. Here we report a case of a 50-year-old male who presented with seizure. This case report emphasizes the importance of complete evaluation of a case presenting with seizures. Tuberous sclerosis must be included in the differentials if patient presents with seizures, skin manifestations and mental retardation.Birdem Med J 2016; 6(2): 127-129

Twin to twin transfusion syndrome is a rare but serious complication of monochorionic twin pregnancy. It is characterized by the development of abnormal placental vascular communication from one foetus (donor) to the other foetus (recipient). If left untreated it led to high rates of perinatal morbidity and mortality due to its poorly understood etiology and difficulty in diagnosing and treatment. Authors report a case of twin to twin transfusion syndrome in 24 years old primigravida with gestational age of 18 weeks 5 days diagnosed on ultrasound.

Background. There are increasing reports of term live abdominal pregnancies even though the diagnosis of abdominal pregnancy is made preoperatively only in 45% of cases which partly explains the high maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality associated with abdominal pregnancy. Case Report. We report a rare case of misdiagnosed term abdominal pregnancy complicated by fetal demise due to cord round neck in a 29-year-old G3P2002 at 39-week and 1-day gestation. She noticed reduced fetal movements for which upon examination fetal death was diagnosed. Cervical ripening was started which eventually failed, and surgery was indicated. Findings were an abdominal pregnancy with a third-degree macerated fetus with cord round neck. She was discharged on day 8 postoperation to continue follow-up as an outpatient with regular βHCG and ultrasound checks. Conclusion. This case illustrates the need to effectively confirm an intrauterine location of a pregnancy even in a case of fetal demise and the need to monitor for cord abnormalities in advanced abdominal pregnancy being managed expectantly.

AbstractObjective:We report an interesting case involving a child with a branchial cleft anomaly with two fistulous tracts, one of which was associated with an unusual otoscopic finding.Case report:A seven-year-old girl presented with an apparent type II first branchial cleft cyst after an acute infection. Parotidectomy and excision of the tract were performed, with subsequent development of pre-auricular swelling three months later. Further surgery was performed to remove a second duplication anomaly of the external auditory canal. Otomicroscopy showed a fibrous band arising from the wall of the canal and attached to the tympanic membrane at the umbo. Conclusion:Otoscopic findings on physical examination can be important diagnostic clues in the early recognition of branchial cleft anomalies. The classification system proposed by Work may fail to describe some branchial cleft lesions.

Abstract The article presents a case with diagnosed Hodgkin disease (HD) during pregnancy. The aim of this case study was to present diagnostic possibilities in determining HD stage during pregnancy and therapeutic dilemmas. The incidence of HD during pregnancy is 3.2% of all cases with this malignant hematological disorder. The treatment of this disease during pregnancy depends on disease-related factors, pregnancy-related factors, as well as possible implications for fetal morbidity and mortality. The need of analysis of the nature of the disease during pregnancy indicates examination of a larger series of pregnant women with HD and the drawn conclusions affect the decision whether chemotherapy treatment should start immediately or it should be postponed for after delivery.
