Reported here is a silent case of an abdominal pregnancy with fetal demise at twenty one weeks gestation, extracted from the peritoneal cavity at laparotomy along with the removal of placenta contained in fallopian tube by salphingectomy without any effort. Abdominal pregnancy is extremely rare, and has been historically defined as an implantation in the peritoneal cavity exclusive of tubal, ovarian and intraligamentary pregnancy. Abdominal pregnancy can be primary or secondary. The presence of abdominal pregnancy is associated with increased maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. The reported incidence of abdominal pregnancy ranges from 1 per 2200 to 1 per 10,200 pregnancies1. The early recognition and management of the same is necessary to prevent untoward complications. This case report describes an interesting case of a 16 year primigravida with a live secondary abdominal pregnancy. NJOG 2011 Nov-Dec; 6 (2): 44-46 DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/njog.v6i2.6756

Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is an uncommon condition characterized by abundant extracellular mucinous material in the peritoneal cavity and tumoural implants on the peritoneal and epiploic surfaces. Aim of this case report is to create awareness among the clinicians regarding this uncommon disease presented with ascites and irregular masses in the abdomen. PMP is a rare disease, may be benign or malignant, presented with ascites and irregular masses in the abdomen which is infrequently encountered in our clinical practice. Key words: Pseudomyxoma peritonei; mucinous carcinomatosis; hyperthermic chemotherapy; gelatinous material; irregular masses DOI: 10.3329/fmcj.v6i1.7415 Faridpur Med. Coll. J. 2011;6(1): 61-63

Background. There are increasing reports of term live abdominal pregnancies even though the diagnosis of abdominal pregnancy is made preoperatively only in 45% of cases which partly explains the high maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality associated with abdominal pregnancy. Case Report. We report a rare case of misdiagnosed term abdominal pregnancy complicated by fetal demise due to cord round neck in a 29-year-old G3P2002 at 39-week and 1-day gestation. She noticed reduced fetal movements for which upon examination fetal death was diagnosed. Cervical ripening was started which eventually failed, and surgery was indicated. Findings were an abdominal pregnancy with a third-degree macerated fetus with cord round neck. She was discharged on day 8 postoperation to continue follow-up as an outpatient with regular βHCG and ultrasound checks. Conclusion. This case illustrates the need to effectively confirm an intrauterine location of a pregnancy even in a case of fetal demise and the need to monitor for cord abnormalities in advanced abdominal pregnancy being managed expectantly.

Primary splenic pregnancy is the least common form of extrauterine pregnancy. We report a case of splenic pregnancy occurring in a 30-year-old woman presenting with acute abdomen and hemoperitoneum. Recognition of this rare form of gestation is of critical importance, owing to the risk of exsanguinations and death, and should be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute abdomen in women of reproductive age. We report a case of primary splenic pregnancy complicated by hemoperitoneum. Ectodermal dysplasia is a heterogeneous group of inherited disorder affecting two or more ectodermally derived tissues such as skin, hair, nails, eccrine glands and teeth. The disorder is of two types: Hypohydrotic ectodermal dysplasia/Christ seimens –Touraine syndrome and Hydrotic ectodermal dysplasia/clousten syndrome. Commonly associated signs include hypohidrosis, anomalous dentition, onychodysplasia, hypotrichosis. Multidisciplinary approaches are required for optimal treatment3. Here, we present two cases of 19 and 13 year old male siblings who were diagnosed with the disorder based upon their clinical features. Key Words: ectodermal dysplasia, hypodontia; anomalous dentition.

Obturator hernia is a rare pelvic hernia which accounts for 1% of all abdominal hernia. Clinical manifestation is ussually unspecific. Obturator hernia is often diagnosed by computed tomography or ultrasound. We present a case of obturator hernia in an elderly women who was successfully diagnosed and treated at Hue Univeristy of Medicine and Pharmacy. Key words: obturator hernia, mechanical obstruction, intestinal obstruction, Richter obturator hernia, strangulation

Umbilical vein varices are rare umbilical cord anomalies that typically occur intra-abdominally. Extra-abdominal umbilical vein varices are exceedingly rare and usually diagnosed postnatally on gross pathologic examination. Umbilical vein varices have been associated with increased risk of fetal anemia, cardiac abnormalities, and intrauterine fetal demise. This case report discusses a patient who presented with a massive extra-abdominal umbilical vein varix, whose infant was ultimately delivered due to fetal distress and died in the neonatal period. This report also discusses associated fetal conditions and guidelines for antenatal testing and surveillance of known umbilical vein varices.

Transmigration of mandibular canine is an unusual phenomenon characterized by movement of the impacted canine crossing the mandibular midline. Mandibular canine are rarely found impacted in a horizontal position in the mandible. Most of the time, this entity occurred as an isolated finding. However there are reports showing association of dentigerous cyst and a hyperdontia. The purpose of this report is to present a case of transmigrated canine associated with agenesis of mandibular both central incisors which is not reported previously. Key words: Intra-osseous migration; mandibular canine; agenesis; central incisors. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/bjms.v10i2.7810 Bangladesh Journal of Medical Science Vol.10 No.2 Apr’11 pp.133-136
