Wonosari-Punung Formation of Middle Miocene-Pliocene and Semilir Formation of Early-Middle Miocene consists of Gunung Sewu Karst Landscape in Ponjong and Semanu District; Gunungkidul Regency. Gunung Sewu Karst Landscape has advanced karstification so that the morphology of exokarst and endokarst could be formed. Cave entrance as a marker of the endokarst morphology existence is formed by varying morphometry. This research aims to determine cave entrance distribution pattern based on a cave entrance morphometry. These research variables are cave entrance morphometry; geological formation; and geological structure (geological lineament). The analytical method uses nearest neighbour analysis (NNA) and lineament analysis. The result of this research shows that vertical cave entrance with oval; narrow; and irregularity shape have dispersed distribution pattern in Wonosari-Punung Formation. Horizontal cave entrance with irregular; rectangular; narrow; and an oval shape; have clustered pattern of distribution in the Wonosari-Punung and Semilir Formations. This research is used as a preliminary study for the development of underground water resources that are commonly found in caves of Gunung Sewu Karst Landscape.

Abstract In order to assess the distribution pattern and understand the prevailing factors for predicting further expansion of an exotic fish Oreochromis niloticus, this study was undertaken in the Ganga river flowing through the state of Uttar Pradesh using MaxEnt model. The authors report the distribution pattern of O. niloticus and prevailing causative factors mounting the expansion of O. niloticus in the Ganges based on MaxEnt modeling technique. The presence only occurrence data-set for this invasive species was prepared from the field data and also from data collated from the authenticated publications of different fisheries researchers. The data-set was analyzed with environmental and topographical variables typically incorporating seasonal and temporal variability using MaxEnt, a maximum entropy algorithm which showed that the area under curve was much closer to 1 ( 0.999). The model predicted elevation as the most influential predictor variable with permutation importance of 69.2% followed by slope_steepness (10.1%), Tmax_1 (7.3%) and Srad_5 (6.8%). The findings from the results suggest that invasive O. niloticus tend to spread in rivers where elevation is lower as well as slope_steepness of the river is higher and thus indicated that invasion might be higher in the downstream of the river. The model suggests that topography and its derived variable are the most significant predictors for distribution of invasive O. niloticus. The results of this study also confirm that the water qualities of the Ganga river are suitable for O. niloticus and if the model is supplemented with water quality variables data, the influential predictor variable in water quality can be well investigated with permutation importance.

Reports on occurrence, distribution pattern, listing of aero-algal forms, seasonal calendar,   allergenic aero-algal forms, effect of meteorological parameters on occurrence of aero-algal forms etc. has been reported by number of aerophycologists. But solution on reducing such aero-algal counts which can be a possible cause for allergenic reaction has not been suggested until known. Hence preliminary study with respect to effect of manipulated environmental condition on the distribution of aero-algal counts has been done. Presence of cooling tower results into manipulation of the climatic factors, such as temperature and humidity percentage. The high humidity percentage act as an unfavorable condition for the surviving of aero-algal forms resulting into sporulation. This spores required some incubation period under favourable condition to undergo for its vegetative development. This knowledge can be used as a possible solution for the allergenic patients. Manipulation of climatic factors can be done both at intramural as well as extramural sites by using water coolers, A.C, introducing water falls etc. It can be considered as possible manageable solution for patient suffering from allergy due to aero-biological pollutants.

A preliminary study of human mammary carcinoma on the ultrastructural level is reported for a metastatic, subcutaneous nodule, obtained as a surgical biopsy. The patient's tumor had responded favorably to a series of hormonal therapies, including androgens, estrogens, progestins, and corticoids for recurring nodules over eight years. The pertinent nodule was removed from the region of the gluteal maximus, two weeks following stilbestrol therapy. It was about 1.5 cms in diameter, and was located within the dermis. Pieces from it were fixed immediately in cold fixatives: phosphate buffered osmium tetroxide, glutaraldehyde, and paraformaldehyde. Embedment in each case was in Vestopal W. Contrasting was done with combinations of uranyl acetate and lead hydroxide.

A new strain of mice, which had arisen by mutation from a dystrophic mouse colony was designated ‘mdx’, because the genetic defect, which manifests itself in brief periods of muscle destruction followed by episodes of muscle regeneration appears to be X-linked. Further studies of histopathological changes in muscle from ‘mdx’ mice at the light microscopic or electron microscopic levels have been published, but only one preliminary study has been on the tibialis anterior (TA) of ‘mdx’ mice less than four weeks old. Lesions in the ‘mdx’ mice vary between different muscles, and centronucleation of fibers in all muscles studied so far appears to be especially prominent in older mice. Lesions in young ‘mdx’ mice have not been studied extensively, and the results appear to be at variance with one another. The degenerative and regenerative aspects of the lesions in the TA of 23 to 26-day-old ‘mdx’ mice appear to vary quantitatively.
