Abstract ELECTRITE DYNACUT has a composition that enables it to attain higher hardnesses than previously obtainable in high-speed steel by normal heat treatment. This high hardness in combination with high cobalt content imparts an optimum balance between wear resistance and red hardness. It is recommended for applications involving long production runs or heavy-duty machining. This datasheet provides information on composition and hardness. It also includes information on high temperature performance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-277. Producer or source: Latrobe Steel Company.

Abstract HS-100 is a super high-speed steel built on an AISI Type M33 base but with higher carbon and cobalt. It is able to attain an approximate hardness of Rockwell C 68 with normal heat treatment. It gains its great resistance to wear from its high hardness rather than from excess vanadium carbides. HS-100 is recommended for applications where long production runs or heavy-duty machining is involved. This datasheet provides information on composition and hardness. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: TS-429. Producer or source: Latrobe Steel Company.

Abstract TATMO V-N is an AISI Type M7 high-speed steel modified by alloy balancing and a nitrogen addition to develop superior hardness response in heat treatment. It is an excellent grade for many cutting-tool applications requiring an optimum balance of red hardness, edge toughness and wear resistance, such as drills, taps, end mills, reamers and milling cutters. Its combination of outstanding properties and high hardness makes Tatmo V-N a logical alternate for cobalt high-speed steels in many cutting-tool applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-452. Producer or source: Latrobe Steel Company.

Abstract CPM Rex 121 is a super high-speed steel with significantly higher wear resistance and red hardness than other high-speed steels. It is best suited for applications requiring high cutting speeds. It may provide an alternative to carbide where carbide cutting edges are too fragile. The annealed hardness is approximately 350-400 HB, and maximum hardness is approximately 72 HRC. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, microstructure, hardness, and elasticity as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on high temperature performance and wear resistance as well as heat treating and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-591. Producer or source: Crucible.

Abstract UNS No. T11301 is a general-purpose high-molybdenum, low-tungsten type of high-speed tool steel. It has an excellent combination of cutting ability, toughness and finishing properties. Its cutting ability is good except for heavy-duty, continuous cutting operations where the ultimate in red-hardness is required. Its toughness is as great as that of any other high-speed steel. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: TS-492. Producer or source: Tool steel mills.

Abstract ELECTRITE CO-6 is a high-speed steel of the 6 molybdenum-6 tungsten type to which 9% cobalt has been added. This cobalt addition increases the red hardness and permits a retention of greater cutting hardness at elevated temperatures. It is designated as SAE-M36 and AISI Type M36. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: TS-35. Producer or source: Latrobe Steel Company. Originally published July 1955, revised June 1963.

Abstract AISI Type M33 is a heavy-duty high-speed steel; it contains 8.00% cobalt to improved red hardness. It is recommended for cutting-tool applications in which wear resistance and high temperature hardness are important characteristics. It should not be used where excessive shock and/or chatter are encountered. AISI Type M33 is well suited to uses such as machining hard and heat-treated materials and machining both ferrous and nonferrous aircraft alloys. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: TS-402. Producer or source: Tool steel mills.
