Abstract HOTFORM ULTRA is a modified 5% chromium hot-work die steel originally developed by the manufacturer in the 1960's. It possesses hot hardness superior to that of AISI Type H11 and AISI Type H13, and approaches the hot hardness of the tungsten-based hot-work die steels. Typical applications for Hotform Ultra include die-casting dies, core pins and inserts, piercing dies and hot-extrusion dies. This datasheet provides information on composition and physical properties. It also includes information on wear resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: TS-440. Producer or source: Teledyne Vasco.
