Abstract TATMO V-N is an AISI Type M7 high-speed steel modified by alloy balancing and a nitrogen addition to develop superior hardness response in heat treatment. It is an excellent grade for many cutting-tool applications requiring an optimum balance of red hardness, edge toughness and wear resistance, such as drills, taps, end mills, reamers and milling cutters. Its combination of outstanding properties and high hardness makes Tatmo V-N a logical alternate for cobalt high-speed steels in many cutting-tool applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-452. Producer or source: Latrobe Steel Company.

Abstract AISI Type M33 is a heavy-duty high-speed steel; it contains 8.00% cobalt to improved red hardness. It is recommended for cutting-tool applications in which wear resistance and high temperature hardness are important characteristics. It should not be used where excessive shock and/or chatter are encountered. AISI Type M33 is well suited to uses such as machining hard and heat-treated materials and machining both ferrous and nonferrous aircraft alloys. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: TS-402. Producer or source: Tool steel mills.

Abstract VASCO M-7 is a molybdenum type of high-speed steel having tungsten, chromium and molybdenum contents similar to AISI Type MI high-speed steel, but with higher carbon and vanadium. The increased percentages of carbon and vanadium add to the cutting efficiency of the steel without materially lessening the toughness. This steel has met with considerable favor among high-speed steel users who are seeking improved cutting properties for specific applications. Its many applications include drills, end mills, milling cutters, punches and shear blades. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: TS-379. Producer or source: Teledyne Vasco.

Abstract TNW is a high-speed steel. It has an optimum alloy composition that combines the good toughness characteristics of a high-molybdenum steel and the excellent abrasion resistance provided by a 2% vanadium content. TNW is a popular choice for twist drills, taps, reamers, router bits, end mills and other similar cutting tools. Also its good toughness makes it well suited to punches and other difficult cold-forming tools requiring the properties of a high-speed steel. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, and elasticity. It also includes information on high temperature performance as well as forming, heat treating, and machining. Filing Code: TS-433. Producer or source: Latrobe Steel Company.
