Abstract KIDD Alloy ZA-27 is a zinc-aluminum-copper high-strength foundry alloy. It is well suited to structural applications, once the exclusive domain of malleable cast iron, bronzes and aluminum. ZA-27 offers an as-sand-cast tensile strength of 58,000 to 64,000 psi at modest cost; also, it can be cast in cold-chamber machines for better properties than those of conventional die-casting alloys. It is extremely resistant to galling because it has natural lubricity and is thus well suited to bearing and bushing applications. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness, creep, and fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, forming, heat treating, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Zn-39. Producer or source: Kidd Creek Mines Ltd.

Abstract Copper Alloy No. 878 is a copper-zinc-silicon alloy for die castings. Among the brass die-casting alloys, it has the highest strength, hardness and wear resistance; however, it is the most difficult to machine. It is used where very high requirements must be met for strength and wear resistance. Its many applications include tools, pump impellers, gears and marine hardware. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, and tensile properties as well as fracture toughness. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Cu-386. Producer or source: Copper alloy producers.

Abstract ZA-12 is the intermediate member of the family of three ZA die-casting alloys. Its melting point, solidification range and recommended casting-temperature range are greater than those of ZA-8. (See Alloy Digest Zn-48, January 1990). Due to these factors, ZA-12 must be die cast in cold chamber die-casting machines like conventional aluminum die-casting alloys. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive and shear strength as well as fracture toughness and fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, machining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Zn-49. Producer or source: Aluminum Smelting and Refining Company Inc..
