This article is devoted to the problem of decision making under linguistic uncertainty. The effective method for modelling linguistic uncertainty is the fuzzy set theory. There are several types of fuzzy number types proposed by L. Zadeh: fuzzy type-1, fuzzy type-2, Z-numbers. Chen proposed concept of generalized fuzzy numbers. Generalized trapezoidal fuzzy numbers (GTFN) one of effective approach which can be used for modeling linguistic uncertainty. GFTN very convenient model which allow take in account second order uncertainty. GFTN are formalized and major operations are described as practical problem is considered group decision making for supplier selection. In this case the criteria assessments are expressed by experts in linguistic form. Group decision making model is presented as 2 step aggregation procedure, in first step is aggregated value of alternative by expert, in second step by criteria. Numerical example with four criteria and three alternatives are presented and solved.

Multi criteria decision-making problems are usually encounter implicit, vague and uncertain data. Interval type-2 fuzzy sets (IT2FS) are widely used to develop various MCDM techniques especially for cases with uncertain linguistic approximation. However, there are few researches that extend IT2FS-based MCDM techniques into qualitative and group decision-making environment. The present study aims to adopt a combination of hesitant and interval type-2 fuzzy sets to develop an extension of Best-Worst method (BWM). The proposed approach provides a flexible and convenient way to depict the experts’ hesitant opinions especially in group decision-making context through a straightforward procedure. The proposed approach is called IT2HF-BWM. Some numerical case studies from literature have been used to provide illustrations about the feasibility and effectiveness of our proposed approach. Besides, a comparative analysis with an interval type-2 fuzzy AHP is carried out to evaluate the results of our proposed approach. In each case, the consistency ratio was calculated to determine the reliability of results. The findings imply that the proposed approach not only provides acceptable results but also outperforms the traditional BWM and its type-1 fuzzy extension.

Supplier selection and segmentation are crucial tasks of companies in order to reduce costs and increase the competitiveness of their goods. To handle uncertainty and dynamicity in the supplier segmentation problem, this research thus proposes a new dynamic generalized fuzzy multi-criteria group decision making (MCGDM) approach from the aspects of capability and willingness and with respect to environmental issues. The proposed approach defines the aggregated ratings of alternatives, the aggregated weights of criteria, and the weighted ratings by using generalized fuzzy numbers with the effect of time weight. Next, we determine the ranking order of alternatives via a popular centroid-index ranking approach. Finally, two case studies demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed dynamic approach. The applications show that the proposed appoach is effective in solving the MCGDM in vague environment.

Abstract In this paper we investigate the dynamic multi-attribute group decision making problems, in which all the attribute values are provided by multiple decision makers at different periods. In order to increase the level of overall satisfaction for the final decision and deal with uncertainty, the attribute values are enhanced with generalized interval-valued trapezoidal fuzzy numbers to cope with the vagueness and indeterminacy. We first define the Dynamic Generalized Interval-valued Trapezoidal Fuzzy Numbers Weighted Geometric Aggregation (DGITFNWGA) operator and give an approach to determine the weights of periods, using the probability density function of Gamma distribution, and then a dynamic multi-attribute group decision making method is developed. The method proposed employs the Generalized Interval-valued Trapezoidal Fuzzy Numbers Hybrid Geometric Aggregation (GITFNHGA) operator to aggregate all individual decision information into the collective attribute values corresponding to each alternative at the same time period, and then utilizes the DGITFNWGA operator to aggregate the collective attribute values at different periods into the overall attribute values corresponding to each alternative and obtains the alternatives ranking, by which the optimal alternative can be determined. Finally, an illustrative example is given to verify the approach developed.

In this paper, the problems of fuzzy multi-attribute group decision making in which the attribute values are given in the form of linguistic fuzzy numbers are studied. First of all, a new method called fuzzy dominance is given for ranking trapezoidal fuzzy numbers based on the credibility theory. Then the TOWA operator is presented to aggregate the trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. Furthermore, a new model is presented for the problems of fuzzy multi-attribute group decision making via TOWA operator, fuzzy dominance method and gray relative degree. Finally, a decision-making example is given to demonstrate the feasibility and rationality of this new model.
