Perceived reality plays a more prominent role in shaping one's attitudes and behaviors than the actual reality itself. Research on perceived corporate social responsibility (PCSR) has gained interest and this research study examines the specific relationship of PCSR with a discretionary behavioral construct, organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Building upon social theories such as the social identity theory, social exchange theory, social learning theory, and social attribution theory, a conceptual framework is proposed that identifies the impact of internal and external moderators on the PCSR-OCB relationship. Through proposing the impact of external moderators, the researcher aims to bring in objectivity when assessing PCSR, a subjective construct. Further contributions to research and practitioners are highlighted and future avenues for research are discussed.

Though considerable research has been conducted on ethical leadership, we still know very little about the antecedents to ethical leadership perceptions. Drawing primarily from social learning theory, we propose a process model by which leader Machiavellianism affects ethical leadership, which is then hypothesized to influence psychological empowerment. In addition, we propose that team member role performance and organization-directed organizational citizenship behavior will be consequences of psychological empowerment. Drawing from a sample of 242 employees reporting to 82 leaders, our findings broadly demonstrate support for our hypotheses and advance our understanding of both antecedents and outcomes of ethical leadership. We discuss the theoretical implications of our findings, along with the practical insights, limitations, and future research opportunities.

A survey design was incorporated to select employees from Universities owned by private sector. The causal relationship was checked by regression and hierarchal multiple regression analysis was applied for the centralized impact of moderating variable on EE and OCB relationship. A total of 281 questionnaires were circulated among respondents and 266 valid responses were received back.On the basis of statistical analysis it was found that employee engagement was a good predictor and has a significant impact on OCB. However, the moderating variables training, compensation and performance appraisal were also having a significant impact on the link of employee engagement and OCB. It is recommended that the managers must focus on employees training, compensation and proper appraisal system to further nourish the citizenship behavior of employee in order to promote the organization objectives. The scope of the present research is limited to private sector universities;therefore, in future a relative study of both private and public sector universities may be carried out by considering both administrative and teaching faculty.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of ethical leadership on employee performance, with the employee engagement and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) as mediating variables.Design/methodology/approachThe design of this study was to ascertain the predictive generalizations truth of the theory. The population in this study was all employees of non-star hotels in Sarbagita area of Bali.FindingsFirst, ethical leadership does not have a significant effect on employee performance, where the increase in leadership value is not able to provide a significant improvement in the performance of non-star hotel employees in the Sarbagita area of Bali. Second, employee engagement is able to mediate ethical leadership in improving employee performance. Third, the OCB will be able to play a role in mediating the influence of ethical leadership on employee performance if it passes the mediating role of employee engagement first.Originality/valueThe inconsistencies of the previous study results provide evidence and opportunities for this study to review by including mediating variables on ethical leadership and employee performance relationship. The studied variable as a mediating variable is employee engagement. In addition to employee engagement, this study also included the OCB variable as a mediating variable. Several previous studies have identified the influence of ethical leadership, employee engagement and OCB in improving employee performance in separate research models, so there is still a gap for further research.
