The authors describe the case of a 32-year-old woman known to have Russell-Silver syndrome who presented with repeated aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. Multiple intracranial aneurysms and advanced peripheral vascular disease were demonstrated. The authors postulate a link between these vascular features and the patient's genetic condition.

The authors present the case of a pediatric patient with Loeys-Dietz syndrome (LDS) who underwent craniotomy for clip ligation of a ruptured intracranial aneurysm. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the youngest reported patient with LDS who has been treated for a ruptured intracranial aneurysm. The patient presented with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage even though the results of surveillance screening were negative, and the aneurysm arose from the wall of the parent artery away from an arterial branch point. She was treated with open clip ligation and recovered well. The authors review the other reported cases of treated intracranial aneurysms in patients with LDS.

Vatarakta, classified as a Mahavatavyadhi and as a separate disease in the scriptures has evoked attention of the Ayurvedic physicians and scholars because of its versatility in symptoms. Focussing on a single disease elaborated in modern science and equate it to Vatarakta cannot be considered as an apt methodology. Rather, Vatarakta can be understood as a conglomeration of different diseases such as autoimmune disorders, peripheral arterial disease and gouty arthritis to name a few. In this case study, a 42 year old male patient diagnosed with peripheral vascular disease was treated with the aid of the principles of Vataraktachikitsa and medications suitable to the disease under consideration. Shamana modality of treatment was advocated for the patient. The findings were obtained with timely monitoring of the symptoms and condition of the disease. Medications which included Shilajatu, Guggulu tiktakakashaya and Jatyaditaila provided significant relief.

Internal jugular venous catheters are widely used for hemodialysis as permanent vascular access in patients with severe peripheral vascular disease or transiently for acute hemodialysis. The Seldinger technique is the most widely used technique in catheter insertion. The guidewire-related complications are rare but sometimes it has significant morbidity and mortality. In this case report, we have a patient who developed asystole during catheter insertion which required transvenous pacemaker insertion.
