In the Republic of Tatarstan from 1995 to the first half of 1999, there were 18,376 road traffic accidents (RTAs). They affected 23558 people, killed 3525 and injured 20033. The accident severity index averaged 14.8 during that period. Downward trends in the severity of accidents in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 were rather telling: 26.9; 17.6; 16.9; 13.7; 11.8. In spite of that, Tatarstan looks unfavorable against the background of other territories of the Russian Federation. In order to identify the cause-and-effect relations of the severity of traffic accidents, we conducted an in-depth study of them in the territory of cities and agricultural districts during this period.

Background: Road traffic accidents (RTA) is considered to be among top five cause of concern in with morbidity and mortality with socioeconomic repercussions among developing countries. RTA’s are manmade disaster which involves human suffering and socioeconomic costs in terms of premature deaths, injuries, etc. The objective of study was to know the prevalence of various types of accidents, injuries and associated factors. Methods: This study is prospective observational study, was conducted at Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital, SRMC, A.P. Enrollment of patients were registered in emergency trauma care, included all types of accidents and injuries. Patients were interviewed with the pre-tested proforma. After written informed consent, victims were interviewed and attendants were interviewed where patients were unable to answer which is part of Inclusion criteria in the study. Injuries recorded were graded according to Trauma Index. Other required information was collected from medicolegal records from hospital medical records department. Results: Total of 153 cases recorded at emergency Trauma care unit, of which males are 135 (88.235%) and females 18 (11.764%). The highest percentage was falling between 20-29 years followed by 30-39, 40-49 years.3,4 According to trauma index injuries, Minor were 108 (70.588%) and Major were 45  (20.411%). Of all injuries RTA’s were 111 (72.549%), recorded as the major portion.2 The injuries were more due to Bikes 51 (45.945%), followed by pedestrians 30 (27.027%) as victims, which took place in the evening and late nights were 93 (60.784%), followed by early mornings were 42 (27.450%).Conclusions:Conclusions of study showed that males were involved more than females in RTA’s falling between 20-49 years. Most of the injuries recorded were minor followed by major injuries from Road Traffic Accidents, which occurred during evenings and late nights. Type of vehicles involved in RTA’s was two wheelers followed by pedestrians and people who travelled in share Autos.

Background: As a result of the road traffic accidents 1.25 mln. of working-age people die each year on the roads. Frequency of the RTA is 11 times higher in our country than in Europe, that influence on demographic and economic situation in the republic. Creation of the math modeling and prediction of traffic mortality rate in Kazakhstan will allow to develop measure on its decrease. Methods: Short-term dotted prediction of population mortality level of Kazakhstan was used, in particular – methods of regressive analysis. General prognosis throughout the country up to 2021 was made on the basis of data for 1999-2018. The more relevant method for prediction is exponential function taking into account the features of mortality rate level trend. Results: Prediction of traffic fatalities without division into the age-related groups for 2019 is 2132±181 case with a probability 2/3. Expected levels for 2020-2027 cases, for 2021-1927 cases. Annual mortality decrease rate according to the 0-19 age-related at an average is 6.4% among men and 5.8% among women, according to age group as a whole – by 6.2%; from 20 up to 64 age related group – 5.1 % on all population category; older 65 age –group is by 2.2 %, 3.7 % among men, 2.9% among women as a whole. Conclusion: In the foreseeable future the number of traffic deaths in Kazakhstan will tend to decrease at a slower pace. Mortality rates due to road traffic accidents among working-age men will be 3 times higher than women in this age group.

Road traffic accidents of vehicles with a rolling stock of railways lead to the most serious consequences. Many level crossings are places of long delays of vehicles both before and after the traffic. In this case and in many others, the intersections of highways with railways sharply limit the capacity of the highway. Level crossings require the utmost attention of the traffic organization, since they must include not only devices for the movement of cars, but also pedestrian and sidings. Despite the fact that the problem of road traffic accidents at level crossings is not new, research and analysis of statistics in this area continues around the world. The paper considers the level crossings on the Republican highways of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Research has been carried out on ways to improve traffic safety at such crossings. The situation at the level crossings of the roads of Republican significance, as well as possible restrictions and regulatory requirements, have been studied in the paper. The paper presents results of a detailed collection of data at the facilities, which will serve as the basis for the development of a detailed program for improving the regulatory and technical base of the road sector in Kazakhstan to improve the safety of  road transport infrastructure, taking into account existing standards. Recommendations are given for the implementation and generalization of advanced international experience in organizing road traffic at railway crossings, which will contribute to the adaptation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the context of the development of transport and communications.
