Thermomechanical processing of metals and alloys is accompanied by deep changes of the material structure (including grain structure), which determines physical and mechanical properties and the working characteristics of products made from them. Its change is possible due to mechanical (fragmentation process) and/or temperature (recrystallization process) influences. Because of this, an urgent task is to create mathematical models that allow describing changes in the material structure and the stress-strain state under thermomechanical treatment. For this purpose, the multilevel physically oriented model was developed for researching inelastic deformation of polycrystals. The problem of modeling two stages deformation of a polycrystalline copper sample was formulated. At the first stage, preliminary cold intense plastic deformation under complex loading was investigated. Two variants of preliminary deformation were considered. They were homogeneous deformation corresponding to equal-channel angular compression (ECUP), and deformation with closed deformation trajectory. At the second stage, uniaxial high-temperature deformation was considered prior to the beginning of an intensive dynamic recrystallization. The paper describes the method for estimating the recrystallized material volume fraction within the framework of the multilevel model. The influence of the deformation temperature, the preliminary deformation, the deformation texture, and the average angle of mutual misorientation of neighboring grains on recrystallization was investigated. These parameters determine the development of dynamic recrystallization, since its main physical cause is the difference in stored energy between neighboring grains. It was shown that the developed mathematical model is suitable for describing the thermal activation of dynamic recrystallization at temperatures in the range of 0,4–0,7 homologous temperature. The deformation trajectory complexity determines the type of deformation texture, its “sharpness” or “dispersion”, the angles of neighboring grains mutual misorientation. The results of computational experiments are presented. According to the proposed method, the deformation at the high-temperature stage is determined, at which the intensive migration of new grains begins during recrystallization.

The high-temperature deformation behavior of the single-phase α (Ti-7.0Al-1.5V) and α + β (Ti-6Al-4V) alloy were determined and compared within the framework of self-consistent scheme at various temperature ranges. For this purpose, isothermal hot compression tests were conducted at temperatures between 650°C ~ 950°C to determine the effect of α/β phase volume fraction on average flow stress under hot-working condition. The flow behavior of α phase was estimated from the compression test results of single-phase α alloy whose chemical composition is close to that of α phase of Ti-6Al-4V alloy. On the other hand, the flow stress of β phase in Ti-6Al-4V was predicted by using self-consistent method. The flow stress of α phase was higher than that of β phase above 750°C, while the β phase revealed higher flow stress than α phase at 650°C. Also, at temperature above 750°C, the predicted strain rate of β phase was higher than that of α phase. It was found that the relative strength between α and β phase significantly varied with temperature.

The high-temperature deformation behavior of Q345 steel is detected by a Gleeble-3800 thermal simulator. The Arrhenius constitutive equation for high-temperature flow stress and the dynamic recrystallization model are constructed. With the secondary development technology, customized modifications are made on existing Deform-3D software. The constructed constitutive model and dynamic recrystallization model are embedded into Deform-3D to realize the secondary development of Deform-3D. The grain size and volume percentage distribution of dynamic recrystallization are obtained by simulating the shear connection process at high temperature and high speed. The results show that the constitutive equation and the dynamic recrystallization model constructed in this paper can be used to predict the evolution of the microstructure. The difference between the prediction results and the experimental data is about 3%. The accuracy of Arrhenius constitutive equation, dynamic recrystallization model and the feasibility of software secondary development are verified.

In this paper, the hot workability of Mg-1Li-1Al (LA11) alloy is assessed through a uniaxial compression test in a temperature range from 200 to 400 °C and a strain rate, έ, of 1–0.01 s−1. The present study reveals that flow stress increases when the strain rate increases and deformation temperature decreases. Based on the hyperbolic sine equation, the flow stress constitutive equation of this alloy under high-temperature deformation is established. The average activation energy was 116.5 kJ/mol. Avrami equation was employed to investigate the dynamic recrystallization (DRX). The DRX mechanism affected by the deformation conditions and Zener–Hollomon parameters is revealed. Finally, the relationship between DRX volume fraction and deformation parameter is verified based on microstructure evolution, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction.
