The author analyzes the features of cross-cultural training of future foreign language teachers in the context of an adaptive approach. Definition of cross-cultural preparation author formulated as an interrelated activity of the teacher and the students in the process of studying particular subjects or subject areas by means of native and foreign languages. This ensures a high level of command of a foreign language, mastering the content of subject-professional, intercultural and linguistic competences. The author found out that in higher education institutions, cross-cultural training is realized through the intercultural component of foreign language, which helps to form in future teachers of foreign languages ​​the idea of ​​dialogue of cultures as the only possible philosophy of existence in modern multicultural communities, as different socially and differently. and religious tolerance and empathy for other cultures. Conceptual models of intercultural competence developed by foreign scholars are based on concepts such as adaptation, assimilation and adaptation. Pedagogical technology, characterized by an adaptive approach, facilitates, minimizes and streamlines the pedagogical work of the teacher, contributes to mastering future foreign language teachers with the necessary professional competences.

The article substantiates necessity of including linguistic and country study content while developing communicative competence of students; demonstrates a scheme of applying the communicative approach to developing linguocultural competence of students as a system of country-through-language knowledge, skills and motives that enable effective communication in the process of cross-cultural intercourse. The model of developing such competence is based on the principles of authenticity of linguocultural material, philological way of cognition, polychannel perception of information; and encompasses motivating (psychological), orientating (factual) and communicative (subject-oriented, pseudo-communucative, creative) stages. This article proves the necessity of developing and building a foreign language coursebook website as its modern and important component that provides cross-cultural training of foreign language pre-service teachers. It is found out that Ukrainian foreign language coursebooks have no websites due to lack of research that theoretically proves their role and necessity for developing pre-service teachers' cross-cultural competency. Consequently, there are no requirements and practical recommendations for designing and building such websites. It is proved that foreign language coursebook websites are able to successfully fulfill the functions of the main coursebook components (student's book, teacher's book, audio CD), that is teaching, modeling, informing, compensatory, motivating, professionalizing, individualizing, managing, organizing-planning, controlling, optimizing and adaptational functions. Moreover, coursebook website helps to train an autonomous student and performs advertising function. 27 authentic German as a foreign language coursebook websites by Hueber, Cornelsen and Klett Publishers are examined and compared, their structure and content is analyzed and evaluated from the point of view of the enumerated coursebook functions. It is stated that one can put on a coursebook websites some components, which not only supplement standard teaching and training materials but substitute them: test booklets, glossaries, grammar reference books and so on. Special role is played by interactive multimedia teaching and training aids, which have no counterparts in traditional coursebooks. The peculiarities and the main requirements for architecture and content of foreign language coursebook websites for cross-cultural training of student teachers were specified.

The current tendency to promote university teacher’s research capacities has long over-shadowed the demand for high-quality teaching and made educator’s human capital and professional intellect look insignificant and not appreciated. Moreover, though it is commonly recognised that co-operative strategic intelligence creates most of the professional intellect of an organization, some are dubious about the value of collaborative educator work in a university for the benefit of students and the reputation of the institution itself. The paper shares insights into how to boost the teacher’s confidence in self and others, and what affects such cultivated self-esteem would have in modern needs-based cross-cultural training environments. The reflections are based on the experiences in the CLIL project implemented by the Institute of Foreign Languages of Vilnius University, and comparisons are made regarding the purposes and ways of collaboration between subject and language teachers in secondary schools and universities. In addition, an analysis of the most interesting accomplishments and an overview of key learning experiences are shared for a development of similar projects in future. To place the experience in a broader context, observations are causally linked with the overall situation in higher education where a gradual shift away from conventional teaching methods to more unstructured, learner-centred programmes is being made.
