LOCAL WISDOM IN THE LEXICON OF RITUAL BLESSING NGAJI RASAABSTRACTThe research was distributed by the pros and cons of the Dayak community to the existence of Hindu-Buddhist Earth Segandu Indramayu (SDHBBSI) in Indramayu neighborhoods deemed heretical. The existence of a SDHBBSI community overview considered one eye turned out to have a culture that values the sublime. These values are reflected in the array-array Ngaji Rasa the rites of blessing a sense held each night Friday Kliwon as one form of prayer. As for the problems of the staple in this research are (1) the structure of the text, (2) a reference lexicon, and (3) local wisdom values contained in the Ngaji Rasa of ritual blessing. In doing research in the field, this research is limited to three text praises the ritual of Ngaji Rasa. This research was used to support the anthropolinguistic approach with a model ethnography of communication. The technique of data collection in this research is the observation and interviews, participants are not structured. The technique of data analysis is performed by doing a text structure analysis based on the praises, analyzes the reference lexicon, and uncover local wisdom values contained in the Ngaji Rasa of ritual blessing. In this study, obtained five repetitions of the lexicon, 10 isotopes are divided into three themes in the analysis of the motives of the structure of the text. Lexicon reference retrieved as many as seven, namely application, Godhead, natural, kinship, places, activities, and advice. Lexicon containing wisdom in accordance with Javanese view of life, namely the microcosm and macrocosm showed a value of harmony in the praise.

Deck officers must be very familiar with the content of the Standing Orders. This peculiar genre, which is usually written on one page of text and with a distinguishable graphical layout, combines administrative and legal discourse. The subtle interrelation between linguistic features on different levels of the analysis implies the ship’s hierarchy and organization which is a precondition for the safety of the ship. Analysis in this paper relies on discourse and genre knowledge and represents a continuation of the author’s research on maritime written genres in terms of both their structure an interpretation of language facts. Structure analysis in the paper is based on Bhatia’s (1993) model. After the moves of Standing Orders were established, the analysis focused on discursive characteristics of each move. As Standing Orders as genre for the most part belong to legal discourse (apart from commercial and merchant discourse), the analysis tends to show correlation between discourse exponents of this legal genre and crew members’ position and duties on board ship. Findings of this paper can be pedagogically useful in terms of providing a teaching model that will aid Maritime English teachers to convey knowledge of this genre to students, especially future deck officers and ship masters.

As a typical unsupervised learning method, the TextRank algorithm performs well for large-scale text mining, especially for automatic summarization or keyword extraction. However, TextRank only considers the similarities between sentences in the processes of automatic summarization and neglects information about text structure and context. To overcome these shortcomings, the authors propose an improved highly-scalable method, called iTextRank. When building a TextRank graph in their new method, the authors compute sentence similarities and adjust the weights of nodes by considering statistical and linguistic features, such as similarities in titles, paragraph structures, special sentences, sentence positions and lengths. Their analysis shows that the time complexity of iTextRank is comparable with TextRank. More importantly, two experiments show that iTextRank has a higher accuracy and lower recall rate than TextRank, and it is as effective as several popular online automatic summarization systems.

The study of crosslinguistic influences (CLI) has proven that morphosyntactic features exhibit CLI. Technical development and novel resources have enabled detection-based approaches, where potential CLI are revealed based on their observed frequencies and on differences between learners with different language backgrounds. The two research questions are as follows: (i) How construction-specific typological (dis)similarities between L1 and L2 affect the frequencies of linguistic features? (ii) Can such (dis)similarities be detected by comparing feature frequency data of L2? The data come from the International Corpus of Learner Finnish, and the methodology applied is the key structure analysis. The results support the applicability of the method: they show that constructional similarities may trigger CLI construction by construction, irrespective of the general similarities or genealogical categorizations. The results further imply the importance of controlling the genre-related and topical variation to account for skewed nature of the data when dealing with naturally occurring learner language data.
