The exponential growth of the population and development comes in hand with excessive use of natural resources which leads to the depletion of the non-renewable material. The main goal of this Solar Decathlon Solar Home competition is to select the best home, which can be assembled within 10 days in the desert climate. The solution of four issues with capacities and technologies are strategized to implement the benefit of the inhabitants of the Middle East region such as sobriety, innovation and mobility. The main objectives of this study are to describe the design philosophy, highlight the exclusive experimental analysis on thermal and sensor which embed the energy efficient and sustainability. The added value of Islamic perspective of ‘Mizan’ and ‘Sakinah’ which mean balanced home and tranquillity are emphasizing the application of balance need for human and nature. The results showed the conductivity of plant waste material known as oil palm trunk is a medium of a heat transport and thermal insulator during high temperature while the innovative sobriety solution is achieved through wind and sandstorm sensor. A conclusion was drawn that the engineering of green product is performed the optimum human comfort in the dwelling of desert area, while from a social aspect, the principle of privacy protection is essential through the planning of a space in the solar home.

Abstract The harlequin ladybird, Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773), is native to Asia but has been introduced to many countries, both intentionally and unintentionally. In the Middle East region, H. axyridis was so far only known from Iran and Turkey. This study reports H. axyridis for the first time from a country with a hot desert climate, Saudi Arabia. The single specimen that was found is most likely the result of unintentional release. Successful spreading of H. axyridis in Saudi Arabia will be limited because of high temperatures during summer and scarcity of prey (aphids). New records from Iran and Turkey suggest fast spreading of H. axyridis in these parts of the Middle East. In addition, we also present new records from Iran and Turkey for H. quadripunctata (Pontoppidan, 1763), the other species in the genus that occurs in the Middle East region. A key and illustrations are provided for both species.

In spite of her troubled presidency at home and premature, ignominious exit from power, Park Geun-hye made serious attempts to bolster the main direction of the Republic of Korea’s (ROK) foreign policy toward the Middle East. A collaborative drive for accomplishing a new momentous boom was by and large a dominant and recurring theme in the Park government’s overall approach to the region. Park enjoyed both personal motivation as well as politico-economic justifications to push for such arduous yet potentially viable objective. Although the ROK’s yearning for a second boom in the Middle East was not ultimately accomplished under the Park presidency, nonetheless, the very aspiration played a crucial role in either rekindling or initiating policy measures in South Korea’s orientation toward different parts of a greater Middle East region, extending from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to Morocco.
