Time pressure (TP) is the most common kind of pressure faced by R&D teams. How to improve team innovation performance (TIP) when time resources are insufficient has been a concern of practitioners and scholars. The purpose of this paper is to put forward some suggestions to solve that time dilemma. We conducted a survey based on a sample of 163 teams. In the first-stage survey (time 1), we measured the team temporal leadership (TTL) and TP. In the second-stage survey (time 2), we measured team learning behavior (TLB). TIP was measured in the third-wave survey (time 3). The results are as follows: (i) TTL has a significant positive impact on the TLB and TIP; (ii) TLB plays a mediating role in the relationship between TTL and TIP; and (iii) TP can positively moderate the relationship between TTL and TLB, that is, the promoting effect of TTL on TLB is more pronounced under the higher level of TP. These findings reveal the influence mechanism of TTL on TIP from the perspective of TLB and TP.

We explored the mediating effect of job satisfaction in the relationship between employees' performance appraisal and their voice behavior. A questionnaire was administered to 864 employees at enterprises representing high-tech industrial clusters from 5 cities in China. Developmental performance appraisal was found to have a more positive influence on employees' voice behavior than evaluative performance appraisal did. Compared with prohibitive voice behavior, both developmental and evaluative types of performance appraisal had a more positive impact on promotive voice behavior, and job satisfaction was found to play a mediating role in the relationship between these variables.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how authentic leadership (AL) can affect individual performance through creativity and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB)’s mediating roles. Design/methodology/approach The sample included 177 leader-follower dyads from 26 private and small and medium-sized organizations. Followers reported their perceptions of AL, and leaders assessed each follower’s level of creativity, individual performance and OCB. Findings The findings show that AL has a positive impact on OCB (i.e. altruism, sportsmanship, civic virtue, conscientiousness and courtesy), employee creativity, and individual performance. Creativity partially mediates the relationship between AL and individual performance. Some dimensions of OCB, namely, altruism, civic virtue and courtesy, also play a mediating role in this relationship. Research limitations/implications Additional studies with larger samples are needed to determine more clearly not only AL’s influence on individual performance but also other psychosocial variables affecting that relationship. Practical implications Organizations can increase employees’ creativity, OCB and individual performance by encouraging managers to adopt more AL styles. Originality/value This study is the first to integrate AL, creativity, OCB and individual performance into a single research model, thereby extending previous research. The study also used a double-source method to collect data (i.e. leader-follower dyads) to minimize the risk of introducing common-method variance.

Organizational Learning Ability (OLA) and innovation performance playing a mediating role in the Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) and firm performance, as per this research. Results also suggest that EO improves OLA and innovation performance, which in turn improves firm performance. Innovation performance performs as a mediating variable between EO and firm performance. Our findings make an important contribution to the recent extension of the EO–firm performance research stream focusing on the intermediate links between EO and firm performance. In this paper, we also suggest that the relationship between EO and innovation performance cannot studied ?as a direct relationship, but it is also conditional or dependent on OLA, the organizational factors that facilitate the organizational learning process. EO is a managerial attitude that must be support by certain organizational conditions that facilitate learning and have positive implications for performance. The results support our conceptual model and show its utility in illustrating differences in intra-industry firm performance.

This study examines the impact of both transformational leadership (TFL) and transactional leadership (TCL) on employee intention to stay (ITS) in deluxe hotels. It also examines the mediating role of organisational commitment (OC) in the relationship between leadership styles, i.e. TFL and TCL, and ITS. A pre-tested questionnaire survey was self-administered to front-line employees in deluxe hotels in Egypt, where these leadership styles were prominent. The key findings showed that TFL has more positive impact on OC and ITS than TCL. Affective commitment (AC) and normative commitment (NC) were found to partially mediate the relationship between both leadership styles and ITS. Employees exhibit higher ITS when they perceive proper leadership practices, especially TFL. Hotel executives should place more emphasis and investments on TFL to effectively achieve OC and positively influence ITS which is critical for the hotel industry that often suffers from high employee turnover.

Based on the endogenous factors which can affect the strategy of international R&D of China’s enterprises, an analysis is carried out on the relationship between market- and technology-orientation of the strategy and the intensity of international R&D. In addition, the mediation effects of innovation capacity endowment are discussed. On this basis, 254 listed enterprises with overseas R&D institutions approved by the Ministry of Commerce of China were taken as the sample for survey administration. The poisson regression method was adopted to test the hypotheses. Additionally, we utilized the Bootstrap method to confirm the robustness of the regression models. Results show that for Chinese enterprises with significant international R&D strategy intentions, market orientation has a significant inhibitory effect on their international R&D intensity, while the technology orientation has a significant stimulating effect on international R&D. In addition, innovation capacity has a significant positive impact on the intensity of international R&D, and plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between technology orientation and international R&D. Therefore, to promote international R&D strategies in the era of high-quality economic development, Chinese enterprises are suggested to establish an innovation-oriented strategy orientation to promote innovation cultural heritage, and to strengthen the accumulation of innovative resources and capabilities.

The textile industry is a traditional pillar industry of the national economy in China. The strategic goal of Chinese innovation is to upgrade and transform traditional industries and make them develop in coordination with high-tech industries, so as to realize sustainable industrial development. At the core of industrial sustainable development, the innovation of the textile industry in China has become an important issue worthy of attention. Based on resource-based theory and signal transfer theory, the relationship between government funding, R&D models and the innovation performance of the Chinese textile industry is studied. The results show that government funding has a significant, direct promoting effect on the internal R&D and science-based cooperation of enterprises. Government funding indirectly promotes market-based cooperation through internal R&D. The promoting effect of internal R&D on innovation performance is greater than that of cooperative R&D. Internal R&D and cooperative R&D have more promoting effects on R&D reserve performance than those on market performance. Government funding indirectly promotes innovation performance through the mediation of internal R&D and science-based cooperation. The threshold effect of cooperative R&D indicates that only when the cooperative R&D intensity exceeds the threshold can government funding foster innovation performance more effectively. The conclusions can provide theoretical guidance for the formulation of innovation policy.

Purpose Open innovation and information systems have been key topics in the theoretical domain, but little empirical research thoroughly examines how information technology (IT) capability affects open innovation performance. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between IT capability and open innovation performance and to expose the inner mechanism at the firm level. Design/methodology/approach This paper collected firm-level data in China; 232 usable questionnaires from different firms were collected. Then, the study used a structural equation model by AMOS for hypothesis testing. Findings The results indicate that both internal IT capability and external IT capability have positive impacts on open innovation performance; potential absorptive capacity and realized absorptive capacity mediate the relationship between external IT capability and open innovation performance. Additionally, realized absorptive capacity plays a mediating role in the relationship between internal IT capability and open innovation performance. Practical implications These findings indicate that practitioners should pay attention to the important relationship between absorptive capacity and IT capability and open innovation performance in Chinese businesses. Originality/value Existing research has emphasized the influence of IT on open innovation, but empirical studies have not thoroughly focused on the inner mechanisms of the effect of IT capability on open innovation performance. Drawing on firm capability theory, this paper classifies IT capability as internal and external IT capability and absorptive capacity as potential and realized absorptive capacity. Then, this paper confirms the mediating role of absorptive capacity between IT capability and open innovation performance.

The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship of service quality on agents’ satisfaction, service quality on agents’ loyalty, and satisfaction on loyalty when they used the insurance portal XYZNet as a digital tools provided by PT Asuransi XYZ Indonesia for their agents’ to increase market share in retail business in Indonesia. Where the portal was facing the challenge of the low number of usage. This study used a quantitative approach, involved 100 respondents which have minimum five times using this portal as samples. The analysis technique used in this study is Partial Least Square (PLS) Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), with the help of SmartPLS version 3.2.8 software. The results indicated that service quality positively influenced agents’ satisfaction, satisfaction also positively influenced agents’ loyalty. However service quality did not significantly influenced agents’ loyalty. The finding also indicated that satisfaction was a significant variable that mediated the relationship between service quality and loyalty. The study gives positive impact to the future researchers to do similar study. Furthermore, the finding could help PT Asuransi XYZ Indonesia and insurance company in general to improve their service quality.
