Taking cold-chain logistics as the research background and combining with the overall optimisation of logistics distribution networks, we develop two-stage distribution location-routing model with the minimum total cost as the objective function and varying vehicle capacity in different delivery stages. A hybrid genetic algorithm is designed based on coupling and collaboration of the two-stage routing and transfer stations. The validity and feasibility of the model and algorithm are verified by conducting a randomly generated test. The optimal solutions for different objective functions of two-stage distribution location-routing are compared and analysed. Results turn out that for different distribution objectives, different distribution schemes should be employed. Finally, we compare the two-stage distribution location-routing to single-stage vehicle routing problems. It is found that a two-stage distribution location-routing system is feasible and effective for the cold-chain logistics network, and can decrease distribution cost for cold-chain logistics enterprises.

With the improvement of enterprise services, location-routing-inventory problem with time window constraint (LRIPTW) has become an essential problem in cold chain logistics network (CCLN). This paper aims to optimize the location cost, inventory cost, transportation cost, and penalty cost in CCLN simultaneously. Firstly, an optimization model was established for the LRIP with soft time window constraint (STW). Then, the multi-objective ant colony optimization (MACO) was improved to solve the model. Simulation results show that the improved MACO can solve the LRIPSTW effectively and efficiently. The research findings provide a reference for enterprises to reduce total cost and improve service quality.

After the earthquake, it is important to ensure the emergency supplies are provided in time. However, not only the timeliness, but also the fairness from different perspectives should be considered. Therefore, we use a multilevel location-routing problem (LPR) to study the fairness of distribution for emergency supplies after earthquake. By comprehensively considering the time window constraints, the partial road damage and dynamic recovery in emergency logistics network, the stochastic driving time of the vehicle, and the mixed load of a variety of emergency materials, we have developed a multiobjective model for the LRP in postearthquake multimodal and fair delivery of multivariety emergency supplies with a limited period. The goal of this model is to minimize the total time in delivering emergency supplies and to minimize the maximum waiting time for emergency supplies to reach demand points. A hybrid heuristic algorithm is designed to solve the model. The example shows that this algorithm has a high efficiency and can effectively realize the supply of emergency supplies after the earthquake within the specified period. This method might be particularly suitable for the emergency rescue scenarios where the victims of the earthquake are vulnerable to mood swings and the emergency supplies need to be fairly distributed.

In response to violent market competition and demand for low-carbon economy, cold chain logistics companies have to pay attention to customer satisfaction and carbon emission for better development. In this paper, a biobjective mathematical model is established for cold chain logistics network in consideration of economic, social, and environmental benefits; in other words, the total cost and distribution period of cold chain logistics are optimized, while the total cost consists of cargo damage cost, refrigeration cost of refrigeration equipment, transportation cost, fuel consumption cost, penalty cost of time window, and operation cost of distribution centres. One multiobjective hyperheuristic optimization framework is proposed to address this multiobjective problem. In the framework, four selection strategies and four acceptance criteria for solution set are proposed to improve the performance of the multiobjective hyperheuristic framework. As known from a comparative study, the proposed algorithm had better overall performance than NSGA-II. Furthermore, instances of cold chain logistics are modelled and solved, and the resulting Pareto solution set offers diverse options for a decision maker to select an appropriate cold chain logistics distribution network in the interest of the logistics company.

Recently, fresh agricultural cold-chain logistics have been greatly developed with the increasing needs of people’s life. Reducing costs of cold-chain distribution has become the main object of loss control in logistics enterprises. The objective of this research is to find a set of optimal routes that minimize the total loss, including fuel cost, refrigeration cost, soft time window penalty cost, and cargo damage cost over transit time. In this paper, the definition and model construction of vehicle routing problem (VRP) with multiobjective minimum lost are introduced first. Then, an ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm combined with Pareto local search (PLS) is put forward to solve the minimum loss model. In order to avoid the influence of complex road conditions during distribution, the distance matrix and the transit time matrix are both derived from the recommended navigation road based on E-map API. At last, a compare experiment between the traditional method and our proposed method is performed. The results indicate that our method has strong applicability and potential advantages in cold-chain logistic and has important practical significance and application value.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a framework of value co-creation in platform ecological circle for cold chain logistics enterprises to guide the transformation and development of cold chain logistics industry. Design/methodology/approach This paper establishes a conceptual framework for the research on the platform ecological circle in cold chain logistics, utilizes a structural equation model to investigate the influencing factors of the value co-creation of the platform ecological circle in the cold chain logistics enterprises and elaborates the internal relations between different influencing factors regarding the value co-creation and enterprises’ performance. Findings Results show that resource sharing in logistics platform ecological circle can stimulate the interaction among enterprises and this produces a positive influence on their dynamic capabilities, which, in turn, affects the they to work together to plan, implement and solve problems, so as to achieve the goal of improving enterprise performance. Practical implications The shared resources and value co-creation activities in the platform ecological circle are very important for the transformation and development of cold chain logistics enterprises. Therefore, enterprises should promote value co-creation through realizing resource sharing and creating a win-win cooperation mechanism. Originality/value This paper targets at incorporating the resource sharing in platform ecological circle for cold chain logistics enterprises, explores from an empirical perspective the role of the resource sharing in cold chain logistics enterprises in enhancing the dynamic capabilities of enterprises, thereby encouraging the value co-creation behavior, and ultimately boosts enterprise performance and stimulates business development.
