This paper proposes an experimental and numerical study to reduce the generated axial force (GAF) in a tripod constant velocity joint (CVJ). Based on the GAF model developed through kinematic and frictional analysis on the tripod CVJ, the key parameters that have a significant influence on the GAF are obtained. These parameters vary with the design parameters of the CVJ and the optimal design parameter with the lowest GAF are presented. The GAF of a tripod CVJ is estimated by the developed model, with respect to various design parameters, and the results shows that track curvature highly affects the GAF whereas contact angle hardly affects the GAF. The GAF decreases with the decrease of track curvature, and the minimum GAF occurs at −20% track curvature and +20% contact angle.

Several studies have been conducted to prevent neck injury in rear-end collision. The headrest of the seat which suppresses the relative motion of the head and the torso can suppress the extension of the head, thereby alleviating the injury. The active headrest has a mechanism that supports the head by deploying the headrest at the rear-end collision. The spring remains compressed or twisted until a collision signal is generated and the headrest is deployed after the collision signal. Depending on the shape and deployment structure of the spring, a spring design with a high resilience that is acceptable to the headrest is required. In this paper, design parameter of spiral spring suitable for the structure of the developed headrest is selected, prototypes are fabricated, and development parameters such as development time and development distance are checked and optimal design parameters of the spiral spring are derived. The feasibility of the headrest with the designed spiral spring was verified by the finite element analysis.

Spherical-cymbal transducer, which is derived from the traditional cymbal transducer, has demonstrated better vibration displacement and resonance frequency performance than the traditional cymbal transducer. In order to realize the optimal design of the spherical-cymbal transducer, orthogonal experiment is used to optimize the design parameters of the spherical-cymbal transducer. Weighted comprehensive point-rating method (WCPM) is used to process the orthogonal experiment results for multi indexes, and intuitionistic analysis of the weighted comprehensive score is used to optimize the level of each design parameter. The optimal combination of all design parameters is gained. Test results show that the optimized spherical-cymbal transducer has the best integrative performance.

In this paper we consider the structural and technological process of the combine used in the process of separate harvesting of grain crops, as well as a number of its parameters. Among the main units of the combine, we allocate a conveyor and devices for removing beveled stems from under the wheels of the vehicle. The principle of operation of the conveyor at different phases of the Reaper and especially the removal of cut stems from under the wheels of the vehicle during operation of the Reaper. The results of theoretical studies on the establishment of the optimal design of the parameters of the belt conveyor are presented, the ranges of their optimal values are considered and determined. Studies on the establishment of optimal parameters of the screw divider in the Reaper, which is the main component of the device for removal of beveled stems, are presented. Taking into account the optimal design and mode of operation of the screw divider, the correct work is provided to remove the cut stems from under the wheels of the harvester.
