The high maintenance costs and low reliability of automatic production line are attributed to the complexity of maintenance management. In the present study, a preventive maintenance strategy for the automatic production line was developed based on the group maintenance method. The criticality of machines in the production line was evaluated, and then the machines were classified into three groups: the most critical machines, the secondary critical machines and the general machines. The general machines were performed on the breakdown maintenance. The preventive maintenance model of the most critical machines was established with the shortest shutdown time as decision objective on basis of the Delay-time theory. The maintenance model of the secondary critical machine was established based on the considering of reliability-maintenance cost. A case study on an automotive part automatic production line was carried out to verify the proposed preventive maintenance strategy based on the production line data, and the maintenance periods of the most and secondary critical machines were gained; meanwhile, the machines all satisfied the reliability requirements during the maintenance periods.

Abstract In this study, based on the computer vision technology, we developed a recognition system for nuts positioning to complete the automatic bolt assembly part of the automatic production line. The actual image of the nut was captured by an industrial camera, which would be processed by the following edge detection and Hough circle transformation. After that, the coordinates of the nuts were obtained in the pixel scale. Finally, the real position of nuts would be fed back to the robot arm, according to which the automatic assembly of the bolt would be completed. This computer vision based recognition system is an indispensable part for the efficiency and accuracy improvement of automatic production line.

Preventive maintenance is an important means to extend equipment life and improve equipment reliability. Traditional preventive maintenance decision-making is often based on components or the entire system, the granularity is too large and the decision-making is not accurate enough. The meta-action unit is more refined than the component or system, so the maintenance decision-making based on the meta-action unit is more accurate. Therefore, this paper takes the meta-action unit as the research carrier, considers the imperfect preventive maintenance, based on the hybrid hazard rate model, established the imperfect preventive maintenance optimization model of the meta-action unit, and the optimization solution algorithm was given for the maintenance strategy. Finally, through numerical analysis, the validity of the model is verified, and the influence of different maintenance costs on the optimal maintenance strategy and optimal maintenance cost rate is analyzed.

Automatic production line includes machinery, electric, control, communication and other multi-disciplinary technologies and knowledge. It is an ideal training platform for students majored in mechatronics and electric automation. In the designing of platform, however, the difficulty lies in the precise delivery and position control of linear guide rail system. To address this problem, this paper aims at designing an AC servo-control system based on PLC, AC servo driver, servo motor and human-machine interface (HMI) and elaborates the principle of servo-control system, circuit design and software design. The system will achieve reliable delivery and precise positioning with position error less than 1 mm, which, with great application value, will meet the actual demand from industrial production.
