Scientists and engineers involved in the design of complex system solutions use computational workflows for their evaluations. Along with growing system complexity, the complexity of these workflows also increases. Without integration tools, scientists and engineers are often highly concerned with how to integrate software tools and model sets, which hinders their original research or engineering aims. Therefore, a new framework for streamlining the creation and usage of automated computational workflows is introduced in the present article. It uses state-of-the-art technologies for automation (e.g., container-automation) and coordination (e.g., distributed message oriented middleware), and a microservice-based architecture for novel distributed process execution and coordination. It also supports co-simulations as part of larger workflows including additional auxiliary computational tasks, e.g., forecasting or data transformation. Using Apache NiFi, an easy-to-use web interface is provided to create, run and control workflows without the need to be concerned with the underlying computing infrastructure. Initial framework testing via the implementation of a real-world workflow underpins promising performance in the realms of parallelizability, low overheads and reliable coordination.

Healthcare workers (HCWs) play a critical role in the management and control of nosocomial transmission of tuberculosis (TB). At the same time, working in TB healthcare facilities such as hospital wards, diagnostic and treatment facilities increases the risk of acquiring TB due to occupational exposure in HCWs. The risk is further heightened in high TB prevalence populations, such as Zambia, as HCWs are exposed both occupationally and in the community. This review aims to provide a better understanding of the risk factors associated with occupational transmission of TB in HCWs in Zambia, by synthesising available data on TB in HCWs in Zambia and the surrounding region. A search of peer reviewed original research on the transmission of TB among HCWs in Zambia was conducted in PubMed and Google Scholar. Studies were eligible for inclusion in the analysis if they described TB amongst HCWs in Zambia, risk factors for TB in HCWs, and nosocomial transmission of TB in Zambia and the surrounding region. The prevalence of TB in HCWs has been demonstrated to be higher than that of the general population. Transmission of TB in healthcare facilities is driven by several factors centred on the lack of adherence to TB infection prevention and control (IPC) practices. Nosocomial transmission of TB in HCWs is further driven by the HIV epidemic and the rise in lifestyle diseases such as diabetes mellitus. However, there is very scarce data on the association of diabetes mellitus and TB among HCWs in Zambia. Prolonged contact with TB patients on wards has been demonstrated to play a vital role in occupational transmission of TB amongst nurses in Zambia. To curb the transmission of TB in HCWs several measures will require implementation such as; administrative support, IPC training and annual TB and HIV screening for all HCWs.

The concept of minimum display quantity (MDQ) is unavoidable in brick-and-mortar retailing format owing to which, retailers need to ensure a minimum level of inventory displayed at each store irrespective of the revenue or inventory turns generated by a particular store. It is observed that majority of bricks-and-mortar retailers in India assume;(a) existing inventory management system is ideal to their store, (b) software solutions record accurate inventory movement, (c) involving store management team in inventory related decision making is risky/biased and most importantly (d) loss of sale due to stockouts is inevitable. Such assumptions and widely followed practice have created a predisposition and mindset in store managers and they believe that their store delivers revenue and profit to the best of its potential with the inventory which is made available to them through existing inventory management system and we cannot avoid a number of instances consumers are unsatisfied due to stockout situations. In this research, we have analysed the existing decision-making process and control systems related to inventory management of a select retailer, attempted to design a new framework and applied the same through an experiment to evaluate the change in (a) overall store profitability and (b) inventory related key performance indicators.

Dear readers!It is our great pleasure to present to you the first regular issue of the Croatian Journal of Education in 2021. This issue brings ten papers by authors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, South Korea, Serbia, Spain and Turkey. Regarding the categorisation of the papers, this time we present four original research papers, three preliminary communications and three review papers. As previously, the featured papers advocate the thematic diversity of the concerns in the field of education. Furthermore, the papers present innovative, creative and multidisciplinary approaches to researching the issues of education. Through the research results and their interpretation, the presented works offer scientific explanations and understandings as well as predictions and control of the research phenomena in the field of education. Thereby we further develop the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary direction of the Croatian Journal of Education. In this regard, we still wish you much success in your creative and innovative scientific projects, and we are looking forward to many more of your high-quality papers in 2021. --- Dragi čitatelji!Veliko nam je zadovoljstvo predstaviti vam prvi redovni broj Hrvatskog časopisa za odgoj i obrazovanje u 2021. godini. U ovom broju donosimo deset radova autora iz Bosne i Hercegovine, Hrvatske, Južne Koreje, Srbije, Španjolske i Turske. U pogledu kategorizacije radova, ovaj put predstavljamo četiri izvorna znanstvena rada te tri prethodna priopćenja i tri pregledna rada. Kao i do sada, u prikazanim radovima zastupamo tematsku različitost problematike odgoja i obrazovanja. Također, u radovima su zastupljeni inovativni, kreativni i multidisciplinarni metodološki pristupi istraživanja problematike odgoja i obrazovanja. Rezultatima istraživanja i njihovim interpretacijama, u predstavljenim prilozima ovoga broja, ponuđene su nove i inovativne deskripcije, klasifikacije, definicije, znanstvena objašnjenja i razumijevanja te predikcija i kontrola istraživanih fenomena odgoja i obrazovanja. Time i dalje razvijamo interdisciplinarnost i multidisciplinarnost Hrvatskog časopisa za odgoj i obrazovanje. Stoga nam je iznimno drago što na ovaj način predstavljamo nove znanstvene doprinose istraživanja autora predstavljenih priloga.
