Black cumin seeds are known to have beneficial contents as antibacterial. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of black cumin seed extract (Nigella sativa) on the growth of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The method used was the disc diffusion method. The ethanol extract of black cumin seeds gain by maceration method and was made into various concentration (5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, and 15)%. For positive control, ciprofloxacin disc were used and negative control used distilled water. The research model used was in vitro experimental research. The results showed that ethanol extract of black cumin seeds have antibacterial activity against Klebsiella pneumoniae with inhibition zone diameters (4.5, 6.7, 10.1, 11, 12.8) mm, Pseudomonas aeruginosa with inhibition zone diameters (7.5, 12, 12.6, 13.4, 15.6) mm, positive controls respectively (24.3 and 20.7) mm and negative controls (0). It can be concluded that black cumin seed extract has an inhibiting effect on the growth of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Objective: Thymoquinone is a main component of Black Cumin (Nigella  sativa Linn.) with various pharmacological activities, but has poor stability and bioavailability. The purpose of this study was to carry out the preparation and characterization of timoquinone nanoparticles PEGylation. Methods: The Thymoquinone nanoparticles  (TQ-NP) were made with PEGylation using PEG 6000 with the concentrations on each preparation of 3 mM (A), 4 mM (B), and 5 mM (C) then were evaluated by the parameter of yield percentage Entrapment Efficiency (EE) and Drug Loading (DL), drug release, size and distribution particle, morphological analysis and Fourier Transform-Infrared spectrophotometer (FTIR). Results: Thymoquinone nanoparticle was PEGylated with PEG 6000  has the highest efficiency entrapment of 99.9718±0.029% in formula A, with the capacity of drug loading 0,66%. Formulation A release 99.9718±0.029% of Thymoquinone at 50 minutes. Introduction: Nigella Sativa or Black Cumin is an annual flowering plant that can be used for wound treatment. In the treatment for wound healing, this plant contains many beneficial components that can help with the treatment but this plant utilisation in the medical field is still limited. This review will provide an overview of the advantages when this plant is used in the wound healing treatment. Method: The review was based on the ROSES protocol, and the databases used were ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Google Scholar. After the search, only 11 papers had been chosen to be included in the results and they were divided into four main themes that were used for the analysis of the results. Results: The themes were gross analysis, microscopic analysis, biochemical analysis and antimicrobial analysis. Conclusion: In conclusion, the black seed extract contains several valuable properties, such as antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, which help improve the wound healing process. Further study needs to be done to discover more potential of Nigella Sativa in treating the wound.
