<div>Ideal{gas thermochemical properties (enthalpy, entropy, Gibbs energy, and heat capacity, Cp) of 49 alkanolamines potentially suitable for CO2 capture applications and their carbamate and protonated forms were calculated using two high{order electronic structure methods, G4 and G3B3 (or G3//B3LYP). We also calculate for comparison results from the commonly used B3LYP/aug-cc-pVTZ method. This data is useful for the construction of molecular{based thermodynamic models of CO2 capture processes involving these species. The Cp data for each species over the temperature range 200 K{1500 K is presented as functions of temperature in the form of NASA seven-term polynomial expressions, permitting the set of thermochemical properties to be calculated over this temperature range. The accuracy of the G3B3 and G4 results is estimated to be 1 kcal/mol and the B3LYP/aug-cc-pVTZ results are of nferior quality..</div>

Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa) causes bacterial canker of kiwifruit, which is an ongoing threat to New Zealand kiwifruit production. Disease control depends on orchard practices such as removal of visibly diseased material, pruning during low-risk periods, and the application of foliar bactericides. Although the use of copper compounds on Actinidia species (kiwifruit) can cause phytotoxicity, copper-based formulations remain a key component of Psa control in New Zealand. The effect of single copper applications on Psa infection of ‘Hort16A’ trap plants was studied over the Spring of 2014 (Sept—Nov). Psa leaf spots were observed at the beginning of October, appearing first on the untreated plants. Although the copper sprays did not achieve complete protection, particularly as the inoculum built up during November, the copper-sprayed plants always had less disease than the untreated plants.

The corrosion inhibition characteristics of two medicinal molecules phenylalanine and rutin on mild steel in 1.0M Hydrochloric acid were evaluated using gravimetric method. Corrosion inhibition efficiency of 83.78 and 90.40 % was obtained respectively after seven days. However, phenylalanine showed weak accumulative higher corrosion inhibition efficiency. The presence of both molecules in the corrosive environment reduced the corrosion rate constant and increased the material half-life. Thermodynamic data calculated suggests a spontaneous adsorption of the molecules on the mild steel’s surface.

A recent study by Baltiansky, Craig, &amp; Jost (2020) tested two hypotheses related to system justification and the perception of stereotypical humor. They reported to have found evidence for a cross-over interaction, with judgments of jokes being contingent on a combination of the social status of the targets of jokes and raters’ system justification motivations. Here, we discuss the original analysis, presentation, and interpretation of the data in Baltiansky et al. (2020), before presenting a re-analysis of the authors’ shared data file. We show that the framing of claims such as “high system-justifiers found jokes targeting low-status groups (e.g., women, poor people, racial/ethnic minorities) to be funnier than low system-justifiers did” (p. 1) are misleading in their framing. Instead, our re-analyses suggest that ideological differences in joke perception are driven primarily by those scoring low on the system justification motivation rating jokes about ostensibly low-status groups as less funny than jokes about other social groups.
