The purpose of the article is to analyse the typology, design features and carved decor of the wooden lamps in the interiors of the religious buildings in Galicia. The research methodology is based on the general principles of scientific work: consistency, authenticity, historicism, logic. The author of the article applies a comparative and typological method to analyse the design features of the lamps. And the methods of hermeneutics and semiotics were used to analyse ornamental and compositional systems of decoration. The scientific novelty of the work is the introduction of the unknown artefacts of church art into the scientific circulation. The author collected these data himself during his scientific expeditions to museums or directly in churches — both in Ukraine and abroad. Conclusions. The study of the design features and decor of the analysed lamps has shown that table lamps, as a rule, are smaller than candelabras (stavnyk), although sometimes according to the principle of composition, they are the same as candelabras, as, for example, the candelabra from the Kryvorivnia Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The study has confirmed that the lamps harmoniously fit into the design of the church interior, complementing the ensemble. For example, in the church in the village of Duliby or Pozdiach. In fact, the design ensembles of these religious sites are made in the same style. The author of the article provides an analysis of the image design solution and the nature of the decor of specific samples of the lamps, and argues that the development of the lamp art (as well as other elements of church equipment) occurs in two directions: imitation of historical styles in line with eclectic versions and the use of ornamental and compositional structures of traditional folk art. The features of a successful combination of these trends in the image solution of the spider chandelier from Galicia, which is kept in the collection-exposition of the National Museum in Lviv, have been demonstrated. The study has shown the original use of Hutsul folk carving traditions in the decoration of the spider chandelier from the Church of St. George in the village of Duliby, made by the famous master Vasyl Turchyniak: he used traditional geometric ornaments with ancient symbols. The significance of the © Roman Odrekhivskyi, 2021 The article was received by the editorial office: 11.08.2020 study lies in the possibility of using the processed material in the restoration of the old and construction of the new churches.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a practical framework that combines the psychological supportive design features in hospitals’ healing environments, also, to examine the implementation of these features in a Jordanian public hospital. Background: Positive psychological feelings are the hidden powerful treatment in hospitals. Although that Jordan represents a third-world country, it is counted as one of the most sought-after healthcare locations in the Middle East for its distinguished healthcare serveries (Private Hospitals Association, 2019). Nevertheless, the architectural and interior design of the healthcare facilities in Jordan usually ignores the inpatients’ psychological needs. Also, there is an absence of practicing a set of psychological supportive design features to guide the hospitals’ design in Jordan. Method: Design features are obtained from the main theories in the field of supportive healing environments. A large Jordanian public hospital was selected to be assessed in terms of these features within the developed practical framework. This study adopts a mixed methodology; data are collected using different methods, mainly literature review, site inventory, and inpatients’ questionnaire. Results: The studied hospital remains moderately considerable in terms of the psychologically supportive design features. However, the nature connectivity aspect is not satisfactorily considered in the studied hospital design. Conclusion: This study suggests a responsive design that fosters interaction and integration with surrounding nature in order to increase levels of connectivity with nature. The studied design features in this study could work as guiding principles for Jordanian hospitals’ designers.

The influence of feeding white-red belted pigs on interior performance. An important step in pig breeding is to identify and develop criteria for predicting the performance of the animal at an early age for the interior design features. It speeds up the process of evaluating breeding value of animals and improving breeding work in the herd. Using interior performance of animals in breeding work with the herd indicates that today's pork industry makes increasing demands for higher genetic and biological quality in the pigs and their adaptability to conditions and feeding.

A great reflection and convergence of Persian, Turkish and Indian architecture is observed in Mughal architecture, which is known as a remarkably symmetrical and decorative amalgamation of these architectures. Muslim and non-Muslim scholars of history have appreciated, identified and recognized the extremely attractive Mughal signs, decorations and beautifications. It has been observed that Mughal architecture is not limited and specified to mosques only but has been used in all other Islamic buildings including their gardens. These signs and decorations have combined different features, elements and components of Islamic architecture and art together. Mughal era has been known as the greatest era which defined the splendid and extravagant phase of Islamic architecture. Therefore, the basic purpose of this paper is to find out how these features and decorations of Mughal architecture used in mosques stem from Islamic principles. The basic aim is to conduct the semiotic analysis of two mosques of Mughal era which have been selected for examination and identification. Hence, this study outlines the importance and scope of Mughal mosque architecture. It examines the decorative style used in this architecture by scrutinizing the basic characteristics of its structure. Moreover, it discovers the real purpose and spiritual meaning of these mosques. The spiritual values are considered significant as they influence the spirit that brings harmony in life. Throughout the Islamic world, this spiritual aspect has been observed as the most dominant factor and element which gives an important underlying message to all Islamic art. Mughals have played a significant role in Islamic art which cannot be ignored and avoided. The findings indicate that the typical Mughal mosques are not just mere representation of religious buildings or places for worship, instead they are something more than that. These mosques have their spiritual connection with art and architecture which cannot be ignored. Their color, shape, volume, texture, and designs all offer the fundamental message of Islam, the incarnation of “peace” and “submission” from which Mughal mosques derive their uniqueness in architecture.

Purpose From poor indoor environmental quality conditions to musculoskeletal discomfort, the interior design of workspaces has the potential to negatively affect human health. One of the key responses from industry has been the rise of health-related guidelines, certification and rating tools. Despite the rapid adoption of such tools by the Australian high-end corporate real estate, there is a scarcity of empirical evidence arising from such premises. This study aims to compare results from certified premises against other open-plan offices to understand differences arising from occupants’ satisfaction, perceived productivity and health. Design/methodology/approach A total of 1,121 post-occupancy evaluation (POE) surveys conducted in 9 offices were analyzed. All these premises hold a certification from the Green Building Council of Australia and two achieved a WELL rating. The analysis is performed in three parts: comparing WELL-certified (2 cases) and non-WELL certified (7 cases) offices along with comparison with a benchmark of 9,794 POE surveys from the BOSSA database, comparing activity-based working (ABW) (5 cases) and traditional (4 cases) offices along with comparison with BOSSA database and qualitative study of the similar design features in all 9 offices accompanied with an in-depth analysis of the health-related issues that might have occurred because of poor ergonomic design. For the first two parts, several t-tests are performed. Findings Highest scores for overall satisfaction, workability, perceived productivity and health were reported on WELL-rated premises. Offices incorporating active design principles outperformed others on workability, satisfaction with work area, collaboration, unwanted interruptions, perceived productivity and health. ABW environments outperformed the traditional offices on spatial comfort, thermal comfort, noise and privacy, personal control, comfort of furnishing, adjustability of the work area and space to collaborate. People using sit–stand workstations reported spending significantly less time seated and female workers were more prone to reporting pain over the past 12 months. The best-performing offices implemented active and biophilic design, prioritized overall ergonomics and different spaces designed to support a variety of work-related activities. Originality/value This research conducts a comparison between certified premises against other offices in terms of occupants’ satisfaction, perceived productivity and health. A qualitative analysis is also conducted to investigate personal and physical environmental aspects. The way of working (ABW or traditional), implementation of active design features, self-reported musculoskeletal discomfort and physical activity were also investigated. The study has taken a holistic approach to investigate many health-related physical, environmental and emotional aspects in certified workspaces.

Interior design is on the one hand a multi-faceted profession in which creative and technical solutions are applied within a structure to achieve a built environment or improve a learning space. An architectural design studio on the other hand is a classroom space in the undergraduate or graduate professional class where students receive hands-on instructions on architectural design. However, the interior design features of architectural design studios and the implication of these for students’ academic performance has not been clearly articulated in the research literature. Therefore, the aim of this research was to investigate the interior design elements of architectural design studios and its implication for students’ academic performance. This is with a view to suggesting how the interior spaces of architectural design studios can be man manipulated to enhance students’ academic performance. To achieve this goal, three private Universities in South West Nigeria were studied using the data collected from 200 undergraduate and post graduate students. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the results revealed that most of the students were satisfied with the interior design of their architectural studio spaces. It was further observed that students were not aware of the conduciveness and wellness of their studios, hence more work needs to be done on the general interior design to ascertain the wellness of the studios. The design studio being a sole environment where both theoretical and practical learning and work is carried out should be made comfortable for the users of the space. There is a fact that people work better in places that they feel comfortable in. Personal space has a direct impact on learning, and designers must take this into consideration when designing Architectural design studios.
