In an effort to find an online-automated electronic resource management system that provides licensing, acquisitions, and statistical information easily, Columbia College of South Carolina journeyed into the world of open source and vender-based applications. During this journey, dead ends and roadblocks paved the way. To encompass all the identified requirements of the online-automated system, a new system needed to be designed.

The paper describes experience of software development for automated system for Large Solar Vacuum Telescope. Most attention is given to the work evolution on the different stages of this process. Automated system software has been developed using Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns and Qt tools to achieve reusable code, that can be used in other telescopes and be portable to different operating systems

Abstract The use of an automated system equipped with a microprocessor-based controller and data handler is presented for the analysis of soil extracts for P, K, Ca, and Mg. With the aid of drift, gain, and carryover correction features, the system has the potential to improve accuracy and precision of analytical results. Moreover, the system allows the use of faster sampling rates in its operation. Accuracy and precision are evaluated for P, K, Ca, and Mg analyses, determined in standard solutions with the automated system at 50, 85, 120 and 155 hourly sampling rates. Results of P, K, Ca, and Mg analyses in 3 extracts of 50 soil samples, determined with the new system at the 120 hourly sampling rate, are also presented. Analyses performed by the microprocessor- based automated system are compared with those obtained using different nonautomated techniques.

The aims of the research work described in this paper is a part were to use computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to investigate the factors affecting the performance of a single-stage downdraught evaporative cooling device for low-energy cooling of buildings developed from a novel prototype device described by Pearlmutter et al. (1996; 2008); and to model and explore the performance of the device when integrated within a hypothetical building. This involved carrying out simulations: to select the most effective wind catcher geometry. Two types of wind catcher using curved deflector and closed cowl design were studied: In total five alternative arrangements were investigated. Arrangements 1 and 2 were bi-directional wind catchers. Arrangement 1 was modelled without a baffle and arrangement 2 was modelled with an extended baffle. Arrangements 3, 4 and 5 were uni-directional closed cowls. Arrangement 3 was modelled without a baffle, arrangement 4 was modelled with a short baffle and arrangement 5 was modelled with an extended baffle and an increased inner radius of 1 metre which had the effect of raising the mid-plane height of the cowl inlet by 1 metre. Initially, for comparison in all studies, the inlet wind speed was set at 10 m/s at a reference height of 11.5 metres which corresponded to the mid plane height of the wind catcher and wind cowl entry ducts for arrangements 1 to 4. The CFD simulations were carried out to define the optimum geometry of a wind catcher.

The rapid development of computer technology has an important role in supporting the development process in current communication era. However, the development of this technology cannot be used optimally at Gajah Mada Vocational High School (Bahasa: Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK)). In Gajah Mada Pati Vocational School, the processing of salary data has not used a computerized system, so it took a long time to process salary data and the possibility of error and data duplication. From these problems, it is necessary to design a computerized system using system design tools in form of ERD, DFD, as well as the design of input and output. Then the researcher tried to help provide an opinion for the salary data processing information system in order reducing the occurrence of error and speeding up the salary calculation process. From the paper done by the researcher, it is hoped that this new system can be used as well as possible. In this new system, the media is provided to hold the data base and media is provided to enter data, to change data, to delete data and to print report.

The article studies genesis of price and pricing processes in the system of economic security. From theoretical and methodological point of view the research investigates different approaches to the definition and shaping the system of economic security, identifies key problems of pricing and shows lines of possible minimization of processes of price manipulation. It highlights non-linear character of pricing, drawbacks of today’s legal tools of regulating pricing processes (such as tariff and antitrust regulation), including those on the basis of administrative and court practices and causes of economic crises arising. From the practical point of view the article studies possibilities of developing the adaptive automation system, which can provide transfer, processing and storage of information about pricing processes. The goal of the research is to distinguish the role of pricing processes in the system of economic security and to develop the concept of uniform automated system of monitoring pricing processes aimed at resolving problems of complex management of economy and providing economic security of the country. On the basis of mentioned-above drawbacks (risks) the authors formulate the suggestion of shaping a new system of management and control over pricing processes based on maximum use of information technologies. These technologies should foster conducting analysis and risk estimation by using information and software means of the new system, including systems of controlling databases, the system of fast development of algorithms for information analysis and system and applied software. For this research such methods as system analysis, retrospective analysis and analytical methods of data investigation were used. Empiric materials of research were presented by open data and analytical reports of the Federal Antitrust Service of the Russian Federation, decisions and rules of the Supreme and Arbitration courts of the Russian Federation, official data of state power bodies.
