Kemiri di Indonesia masih terbatas penggunaannyasecara tradisional seperti bumbu masak dan obat tradisional. Penelitian tentang minyak Kemiri belum banyak dilakukan.Tujuan penelitian ini ialah membuat variasi Basis Salep terhadap mutu sediaan salep minyak Kemiri 12,5% dan Uji daya penyembuhannya terhadap luka terbuka pada kelinci yang terinfeksi bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Metode penelitian ini ialah eksperimen laboratorium menggunakan 3 variasi basis salep yaitu basis hidrokarbon, basis absorpsi dan basis larut air dengan larutan uji minyak Kemiri 12,5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan uji mutu salep dengan tiga variasi basis salep memenuhi syarat uji organoleptik, uji homogenitas, dan uji pH, tetapi Salep minyak Kemiri 12,5% dengan basis hidrokarbon tidak memenuhi syarat daya sebar. Hasil uji Anova menunjukan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan antara variasi basis salep dan besar luka penyembuhan. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa ketiga variasi basis salep minyak Kemiri 12,5% dapat digunakan dalam penyembuhan luka terbuka pada kelinci (Oryctolagus cuniculus) yang terinfeksi bakteri Staphylococcus aureus.

A study in an intensive Italian rabbit farm was carried out to assess the effect of age category and anatomical site on detection of S. aureus and to describe the diversity of spa-types within farm, including workers. On 400 rabbits of different age, 2066 samples from the ear, nose, axilla, groin, perineum and lesions were analyzed and 595 S. aureus were isolated. In total, 284 (71.0%) were colonized by S. aureus in at least one anatomical site and 35 animals (8.8%) had lesions. S. aureus prevalence was higher in adults than other age categories. Ear (29.4%) and nose (27.2%) were the most frequently colonized sites. The presence of lesions due to S. aureus was strongly associated with the colonization of at least one body site and the risk of lesions was proportionate to the number of sites colonized by S. aureus. In addition, a genotypic characterization was performed for 96 S. aureus strains randomly selected. All isolates resulted as low-virulence methicillin-sensitive-Staphylococcus aureus (LV-MSSA). Five different clonal lineages were found: spa-t2802, the most frequently detected (53.1%), also in human samples; spa-t491 (38.5%); spa-t094; t605; and spa-t2036. Strains t094, t491 and t2036 have not been isolated in Italy before.

Pendahuluan: Daun  Binahong adalah salah satu tanaman obat yang memiliki kandungan alkaloid, saponin dan flavonoid yang berperan langsung sebagai antibiotik, pada konsentrasi 20% dan 40 % ekstrak daun binahong terbukti memberikan efek pada penyembuhan luka. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui efektivitas gel ekstrak daun Binahong dengan variasi konsentrasi dalam menyembuhkan luka sayat yang terinfeksi bakteri Staphylococcus aureus Metode: Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimental dengan pengambilan sampel secara purposive. Hasil:  Uji organoleptis sediaan gel memenuhi syarat bentuk, warna dan bau dan tidak terdapat butiran-butiran kasar pada kaca. Uji pH memenuhi syarat pH kulit 4,5-6,5. Uji efektivitas gel ekstrak 1% pada H13 menghasilkan luka sayat yang tertutup sempurna, sementara gel ekstrak 5% dan 7% pada H10 luka sayat tertutup sempurna. Hasil uji statistik ANOVA nilai signifikan P = 0,885 0,05. Kesimpulan: Konsentrasi gel ekstrak binahong 7% memiliki efektivitas penyembuhan paling baikterhadap luka sayat terinfeksi  Staphylococcus aureus.

Penicillin exerts the activity to inhibit the peptide cross linkage between each polysaccharide backbone at the final stage of wall-peptidoglycan biosynthesis of bacteria. Morphologically, alterations of the septal wall and mesosome in gram-positive bacteria, which were occurred in early time after treatment with penicillin, have been observed. In this experiment, these alterations were cytochemically investigated by means of silver-methenamine staining after periodate oxidation, which is applied for detection of localization of wall mucopolysaccharide.Staphylococcus aureus strain 209P treated with 100 u/ml of penicillin G was divided into two aliquotes. One was fixed by Kellenberger-Ryter's OSO4 fixative at 30, 60 and 120 min after addition of the antibiotic, dehydrated through alcohol series, and embedded in Epon 812 (Specimen A). The other was fixed by 21 glutaraldehyde, dehydrated through glycolmethacrylate series and embedded in glycolmethacrylate mixture, according to Bernhard's method (Specimen B).

Gold labeling of two antigens (double labeling) is often done on two section surfaces separated by section thickness. Whether labeling is done on both sides of the same section or on two parallel surfaces separated by section thickness (PSSST), comparable results are dependent on an equal number of epitopes being exposed at each surface. We propose a method to study protein labeling within the same field of proteins, by examining two directly adjacent surfaces that were split during sectioning. The number of labeling sites on adjacent surfaces (AS) were compared to sites on PSSST surfaces in individual bacteria.Since each bacteria needed to be recognizable in all three section surfaces, one-hole grids were used for labeling. One-hole grids require a supporting membrane and excessive handling during labeling often ruptures the membrane. To minimize handling, a labeling chamber was designed that is inexpensive, disposable, minimizes contamination, and uses a minimal amount of solution.
