The article describes the requirements for SB4-type rail spring clips applied for railways before the spring clips are officially approved for use. Two basic aspects of spring clips are discussed: i.e. the material aspect (chemical composition, heat treatment, microstructure, and decarburization) and the aspect of geometric shape. Both of these aspects have a major impact on the performance of the end product. The article features examples of measurement results concerning selected dimensions of a batch of spring clips that did not meet the applicable requirements. It is an introduction to a series of publications presenting research on the influence of material composition and geometry of a product on its clamping force, stiff ness, elasticity curve, and assembly strength. Sleeve (Boom) on Crawler Crane is the main equipment that serves the weight at the time of appointment (Hoisting).The problem which is founded is a fracture at the boom while lift 6 Tons of weight while the optimum design of equipment is 50 tons. The aim of this research is to found the root cause of the fracture by using photo documentation fractografi (microfractografi and macrofractografi), and hardness tests, and test the chemical composition at the surface faults boom crane. We used Finite element method (FEM) to form simulated load. The results is that the porblem accured because of error while read the load chart and error in SOP

AbstractThe article presents a new thermo-mechanical machining method for the manufacture of long low-rigidity shafts which combines straightening and heat treatment operations. A fixture for thermo-mechanical treatment of long low-rigidity shafts was designed and used in tests which involved axial straightening of shafts combined with a quenching operation (performed to increase the corrosion resistance of the steel used as stock material). The study showed that an analysis of the initial deflections of semi-finished shafts of different dimensions and determination of the maximum corrective deflection in the device could be used as a basis for performing axial straightening of shaft workpieces with simultaneous heat treatment and correction of the initial deflection of the workpiece. The deflection is corrected by stretching the fibers of the stock material, at any cross-section of the shaft, up to the yield point and generating residual stresses symmetrical to the axis of the workpiece. These processes allow to increase the accuracy and stability of the geometric shape of the shaft.

The purpose of this work was to perform a chemical and mechanical characterization of a preoxidized CoCrMo alumina blasted surface. This is a commonly performed surface treatment used in metal-porcelain systems for dental restorations to remove oxides formed during preoxidation heat treatment from the metal’s surface. CoCrMo dental alloy’s specimens produced by lost wax process were examined in terms of chemical composition using X-Ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS); in terms of mechanical characteristics through the means of a microhardness test and in terms of surface roughness using a profilometer. It was investigated the chemical composition of various surface conditions: non-preoxidized, preoxidized, ground oxidized surface and sandblasted oxidized surface. After alumina blasting, the oxides level on metal’s surface remained high. Alumina blasting treatment (Ø110 µm) produced an 84% increase of CoCrMo surface hardening and an increase in surface roughness (Ra=0.58 µm). It was found alumina contaminants on the metal’s surface. Therefore, it was concluded that alumina blasting do not entirely removes the oxide layer formed during preoxidation heat treatment. It produced a chemical and mechanical surface modification that can influence the metal-ceramic bond strength.
