[Title: Higher Order Thinking Skills Assessment]. At present, the scope of transformation seems endless, from cars that park themselves without drivers to the production of cars on location through 3D printing. The wearable technology is controlled by the human mind. The coming era of individuals who can face the complexities of life are individuals who have competencies that cannot be replaced by robots, such as empathy, inspiring skills, and higher-order thinking skills. Severe challenges for education to prepare students to become workers who can adapt to new tasks and processes can be overcome by practising higher-order thinking skills. Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) can be trained in schools through the application of constructivist-based learning models. In education, interrelated models, goals, and assessments are called triangle education anchors. Thus, if you want to learn objectives to achieve higher-order thinking skills, then the implementation of learning (models) and their measurement (assessment) must be managed to achieve these goals.

The low level of students’ higher order thinking skills (HOTS) has been the main problem of education in Indonesia. This study aimed to determine the difference of students’ HOTS taught by using POE and Guided Discovery learning models. This quasi-experimental research involved 34 students of X IPA 3 and 32 students of X IPA 4 at SSHS 1 of Sungai Ambawang as the sample. The data obtained by using test which was analyzed using Mann-Whitney U-test. The results showed that the students’ HOTS who were treated with POE were significantly higher than those who were taught using Guided Discovery learning. Therefore, it is suggested to implement POE to improve students’ HOTS.

One of the teachers’ responsibilities in the teaching and learning process is to conduct assessments. The main purpose of assessment is to understand students’ learning outcomes. Based on the outcomes, teachers can give feedback to improve the planning and the implementation of the teaching process and to determine the quality of the assessment instrument. The Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS)-based assessment is urgently needed in schools to produce competitive graduates who have the critical thinking, communicative, collaborative, and creative skills. However, there are some challenges in the implementation of HOTS-based assessment, such as students’ low motivation and Arabic competence, ambiguous definitions of basic competencies in the curriculum, and lack of HOTS materials in textbooks. These challenges can be solved by making an acquisition-based learning of Arabic, reconstructing the descriptions of basic competence, and adapting HOTS-based assessment which is in line with the students’ ability. Keywords: challenges, HOTS, Arabic teaching, solutions

Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) are abilities that should be possessed by all vocational high School (VHS) students, because VHS graduates are required to have good soft skills and hard skills. The reality that occurs the ability of HOTS possessed by students is still very low, it is proven based on the exposure of several researchers strengthened by conducting observations and observations in VHS. Therefore the research aims to determine student learning activities when taught using blended learning Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) and jigsaw, using direct learning models, and their effects on HOTS. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi experimental nonequivalent control group design method with research subjects of 50 students using simple random sampling. Data collection techniques using the test instrument in the form of multiple choice and description and non-test instruments in the form of observation sheets. Research data were analyzed by independent sample t-test. The results showed that the use of STAD and jigsaw blended learning in learning made students more active and enthusiastic in participating in learning activities, direct learning models made students less active and lacked enthusiasm in the learning process, and STAD and jigsaw blended learning significantly affected compared to learning models directly to HOTS.

This study aims to: 1) provide knowledge and understanding to the teachers about the concept and characteristics of the HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) assessment extensively and deep; and 2) improve the skills of the teachers to develop HOTS assessment. To achieve Reviews These objectives, the research literature sourced from journals, reference books, modules, Internet, and other sources such as the print and electronic media that are relevant to the topic HOTS development assessment. Data collected by documentation and observation techniques. The research of data were Analyzed using descriptive exploratory methods. The results of the data analysis are as follows: 1) HOTS assessments are questions or tasks that have Reviews These characteristics: to assess students abilities to analyze, Evaluate, and create based on contextual issues, and are not routine (not familiar); 2) steps compose HOTS items are: a) analyze the KD that can be created HOTS items, b) arrange the blueprint of HOTS items, c) write down the items on the card matter, d) Determine the answer key (multiple choice questions form) or arrange rubric / scoring guidelines (essay form), e) perform qualitative analysis, and f) perform quantitative analysis; 3) the advantage of HOTS assessments are: a) Increase the stundents motivation to learn and b) improve learning outcomes. and f) perform quantitative analysis; 3) the advantage of HOTS assessments are: a) Increase the stundents motivation to learn and b) improve learning outcomes. and f) perform quantitative analysis; 3) the advantage of HOTS assessments are: a) Increase the stundents motivation to learn and b) improve learning outcomes.

The research aims to improve the ability of students insolving problems based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) subjects Mathematics material bangun ruang sisi datar with the use of learning models Team Assisted Individualization (TAI).  This research uses the Research method Classroom Action (CAR) with two cycles, where each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data analysis using the percentage formula, if completeness is ≥ 85%, the cycle is terminated sign that the research has been successful.  Based on research that has been done, obtained the increase in students completeness from the pre cycle results was 19.4%, in the first cycle amounted to 77.4%, and in the second cycle of 89.7%.  This shows that the use of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) learning model can improve the ability to solve questions based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) subject mathematics material to bangun ruang sisi datar in students VIII grade of SMP Negeri 1 Juwangi in the academic year 2019/2020.
